The Anti-Racism Daily is looking to hire a full-time Managing Editor to oversee the day-to-day execution of our daily newsletter. This candidate will work alongside our founder and Editor-In-Chief to ensure our content is sharp, insightful, relevant, and actionable.
This role is a salaried, full-time position including benefits, and open to anyone based in the U.S. The role (like the rest of our team) is remote. The starting salary is $75,000.
About the Role
Up to this point, this role was filled by our founder, Nicole Cardoza (she/her), who intends to move into a role more synonymous with Editor-in-Chief. She will manage the broader editorial strategy, including identifying key issues to cover and assigning and approving stories from our writing team. The Managing Editor will complement this work by handling day-to-day execution. This includes moving each newsletter through the editorial process, setting and enforcing deadlines with writers, providing editing support as needed, and managing our newsletter content calendar. You’ll report directly to Nicole.
Manage the editorial calendar and scheduling of each daily newsletter, published at 6:30a each day of the week
Assign and edit content to our writers
Oversee copy flow; providing approval of final pieces before publication
Add and curate our published newsletters to our website
Supervise our staff writers, freelance writers, and Senior Editor
Work alongside our Editor-in-Chief to inform our content calendar on social media and other owned platforms
The ideal Managing Editor has the following qualities:
Organized and detail-oriented
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Strong writing and editing skills
Deep newsroom expertise and are fluent in leading editorial processes
Familiarity with email newsletters and Mailchimp
Comfortable working with Google Docs, Slack, and Trello
Passionate about the issues we cover in our newsletter, including and not limited to racial and gender justice and equity, abolition, environmental justice, disability rights, etc.

The Anti-Racism Daily is a narrative hub for the lived experience of racism in the U.S. We center the voices of marginalized communities and publish honest perspectives of racism, systemic oppression, and other discrimination that these communities face. Through our daily newsletter, podcast, social media, courses, and digital community, we aim to illuminate the challenges and blessings we experience and offer tangible ways for the community and its allies to take action.
About our Staff
You’ll be working closely with our founder and Editor-in-Chief Nicole Cardoza, and our part-time Senior Editor Jami Nakamura Lin. In addition, our company works with over 30 writers across the U.S. We are a remote company (and plan to stay that way). We informally communicate on Slack and plan to host monthly get-togethers on Zoom. Our team spans generations and geographical locations, and brings a wide range of perspectives and opinions.
