The Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, a daily newspaper that serves a picturesque, vibrant region in Southeast Washington and Northeast Oregon, is seeking an experienced editorial page editor.
The greater Walla Walla area, set in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, is known for its world-class wineries and vineyards, rolling wheat fields, outdoor recreation, three highly rated colleges, teeming arts, quality of life, can-do spirit and affordability. It’s no surprise to residents that their community is often ranked in surveys as one of the best places to live in the United States.
The U-B, a Seattle Times affiliate, publishes six days a week and has a vigorous 24/7 online and social media presence. The editorial page editor is responsible for all aspects of the U-B’s Viewpoints and Perspectives pages, ensuring they provide a variety of opinions that reflect the diversity of the newspaper’s readership. This includes writing regular editorials, being the key member of the newspaper’s editorial board, interviewing candidates and more.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in journalism, communication or similar field and a minimum of five years of wide-ranging journalism experience. A broad knowledge of politics and government is essential, and prior opinion-writing experience is preferred.
