Manager, Grants

General Summary

Rise Broadband is looking to hire a dedicated grant manager to obtain state and federal grants for deployment of broadband to un/underserved areas. The grant writer will write coherent, organized, and compelling proposals incorporating finance, operations, engineering input and aspects that demonstrate the company’s unique ability to close the digital divide. This position will collaborate with team members in the company and with third-party firms to assist with identifying grant opportunities, writing, submitting and managing grant proposals, and developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders at local, state and federal levels. Preferred applicants are deadline-driven team players with outstanding multi-tasking abilities. Travel may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares proposals by gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.
• Submits and manages grant proposals.
• Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying state and federal program requirements, and attending strategy meetings.
• Meets proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
• Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
• Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment.
• Monitors streams of information related to government broadband funding through media, social media and government notifications.
• Maintains and fosters relationships with state, local and federal authorities responsible for defining award requirements.
• Leverages relationships to ensure knowledge of best practices and designs that improve the odds of success.
• Analyzes government award regulations that leverage our capabilities to maximize success.
• Maintains relationships with other grant recipients and writers to foster collaboration and sharing of best practices.
• Other duties as required

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in creative writing or related field.
• 5+ years of grant writing experience.
• Experience with preparation of state or federal grant applications a must.
• Broadband experience preferred.
• Strong project management skills
• Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals.
• Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong people skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines.

Working Conditions

• Employee remains in the sitting position for prolonged hours. Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle/workspace area.
