JOB SUMMARY

The Housing Logistics Coordinator is responsible for effectively coordinating the logistical needs of our housing operations for new-arrivals families. The Housing Logistics Coordinator will collaborate with various partners, such as suppliers, vendors, and internal teams, to optimize housing operations. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role. This position significantly contributes to the overall success of housing operations by ensuring streamlined processes that enhance the experience of our refugee clients. Reporting to the Resettlement Program Supervisor, this role will also work closely with the Housing Specialist to achieve department and organizational goals.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Coordinate the distribution of supplies for new arrival families in collaboration with the resettlement team to ensure a seamless transition in which housing facilities are equipped with essential supplies.
  • Maintain a detailed inventory of supplies and equipment to track usage and reorder levels, including documenting the condition of supplies to assist the resettlement process.
  • Process purchase orders for supplies in compliance with our cooperative agreement.
  • Negotiate with vendors to secure cost-effective, high-quality supplies, verify the accuracy and quality of received goods and supplies, and address issues with defective or subpar products.
  • Manage storage areas to ensure they are organized and comply with safety regulations.
  • Work closely with the Resettlement Program Supervisor and Housing Specialist to develop and manage housing logistics and supply budgets, including monitoring expenditures and implementing cost-saving measures. Maintaining accurate documentation for audits and compliance purposes.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans to effectively meet housing needs and ensure critical supplies are mobilized and distributed rapidly during times of crisis in which there is an influx of new arrival families.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure understanding of inventory management protocols and processes.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address housing logistics and supply chain challenges, including quality control measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients.
  • Assess cultural factors when procuring supplies to meet the diverse needs of refugee populations.
  • Incorporate trauma-informed care principles into the selection and distribution of supplies.
  • Collaborate with Volunteer Services, various departments, and administrative staff to optimize space for efficient storage of ongoing supply support, encompassing personal hygiene items and other necessities.
  • Use a personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in English language.
  • Intermediate computer skills include proficiency in Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work with diverse staff and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Patience, compassion, and flexibility.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with LGBTQ+ and refugee communities.
  • Proficiency in a language spoken by the clients we serve. This includes but is not limited to Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Dari/Farsi, and Pashto.
  • Clean DMV record, current California driver’s license, and insurance, access to vehicle; able and willing to transport clients when necessary.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The compensation for this position will range from $31-$33.
