  • Employment type: Full time (although depending upon the candidate, flexible working conditions on a 3 or 4 days a week basis could be agreed)

PensionBee’s IRA is accessible from our website or mobile app. Customers will receive visibility of their retirement savings and access to our customized retirement planning tools, enabling them to grow their savings and ultimately prepare for retirement confidently.

Operating in the United Kingdom since 2014, PensionBee administers over $6 billion on behalf of 240,000 customers. PensionBee will now extend its award-winning marketing and technology approach to the United States, seeking to rapidly grow its customer base from its operational headquarters in New York City.

Head of Brand and Communications, New York, Role

PensionBee is launching in the US, and we need a Head of Brand and Communications to help us build our brand, create and deliver engaging content through our website, app and video channels and engage with journalists and influencers to tell the PensionBee story.

Reporting to the Global CMO, you will partner closely with a founding team in the New York office, including team members from Operations, Product and Finance. Aside from our US local marketing team, you’ll have direct access to our global performance marketing and our global partnership team.

The ideal candidate for this role brings balanced, well-rounded marketing experience across brand and content marketing and can flex between those disciplines, supporting whenever and wherever needed.

Our Global CMO will join you on location and you’ll be the first marketeer in the US. This means a founding, varied role where in a typical day you can work on our content strategy in the morning and drafting a press release in the afternoon. The role is particularly suited for people who want to have the chance to build a direct-to-consumer brand from scratch.

  • Strategy: Define and implement our brand and communications strategy for the US market.
  • (Digital) brand marketing: Create and oversee a differentiated and integrated digital brand marketing campaign across different audience segments, meeting people where they are with excellent content via social, search, SEO, and later OOH advertising campaigns.
  • Budgeting: Be responsible for handling our marketing budget across different channels and with specialist external providers, analysing and optimising ROI to ensure we are achieving best value from our marketing strategies. On paid channels, you’ll work with our VP Marketing in the UK to align global performance campaigns with your US brand and communication initiatives.
  • Management of agencies and suppliers: Manage, nurture and leverage external relationships to create exciting PR opportunities, next-level creative, captivating content (video, copy, podcasts, events) and highly effective digital campaigns.

Team leadership: As the first hire you’ll be on-boarding 2 marketers in the first year. This means you lead, mentor, and empower a high-performance Brand and Marketing team, fostering a culture of growth, efficiency and wellbeing, all with PensionBee values of Love, Innovation, Simplicity, Quality and Honesty.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have an appropriate combination of the following:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a marketing management role in financial services, ideally direct to consumer.
  • Experience across a broad range of marketing channels including digital, advertising, social media, public relations, and events. We expect you to specialise in some of these areas but not all.
  • Demonstrable commercial success in developing and executing targeted marketing strategies that effectively engage and resonate with your target audience.
  • Strong understanding of brand development, positioning, and messaging to your target audience, ideally to a direct-to-consumer audience.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and manage cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and delivering exceptional results.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Experience managing an annual marketing budget of >$1m.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Technical skills
  • Marketing all-rounder: creative thinker, design inspired, strong communicator both verbally and written, exceptional listening skills, exceptional collaboration skills, adaptable and flexible whilst holding a strong vision and being able to influence decision making efficiently.
  • Experience across the marketing landscape including eCRM, CMS, and data visualisation tools.
  • Excellent written English across a range of styles.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of US print and broadcast media. Relationships with senior journalists is preferrable.
  • Comfortable with financial concepts and structures, and eager to learn more about our unique product and service, including our investment strategy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently across a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Strong eye for detail.

  • Salary: $80 - $90k
