Job Description

Permanent, full-time, exempt, located in New York City or Boston, hybrid. Required to travel 3-4 times per year, at a minimum.

Hack.Diversity seeks a goals-driven, entrepreneurial, racial-equity conscious individual with technical/engineering, business relationship management and curriculum development experience to join our Senior Leadership Team as Director of Programs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Programs is a new Senior Leadership position at Hack.Diversity. The position will bring both the Fellow-facing and Partner-facing staff together under one umbrella, and will be ultimately responsible for the success of program staff. The ideal candidate will be able to co-design a Fellow technical and professional development curriculum that is responsive to the skill demands of Host Companies to ensure a consistent high standard of Fellows’ experiences and outcomes across the Hack.Diversity brand. This role will directly supervise the geographic site leads (currently one in Boston and one in New York) to deliver high-quality program experiences and evaluate success based on outcomes of internship placement and permanent employment.

Requirements

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cultivate and manage direct reports across sites to understand, implement, and meet goals of Hack.Diversity program cycle for Fellows (employment beyond internship) and Host Companies (renewal of contract with Hack.Diversity)
  • Use data-driven analysis and market projections to design, maintain, evaluate, and improve Hack-wide Fellow curriculum to be responsive to the skill demands of the tech hiring market. Current focuses of Hack.Diversity are Software Engineering, Data Analytics, and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proactively identify and troubleshoot obstacles to maximize accomplishment of goals
  • Collaborate with Director of Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI), to ensure objective alignment between Fellow and Host Company programming implementation and REDI outcomes
  • Manage budget responsibly to ensure that it is a financially viable, sustainable organization with the resources to meet current and projected program growth
  • Steer strategy as member of Senior Leadership Team related to progress toward goals, and propose evidence-informed solutions to resolve challenges
  • Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture through modeling values, encouraging staff development, and leading stability through change management
  • Participate in networking events, conferences, meetings to build brand awareness, credibility, and market recognition to facilitate recruitment of Host Companies, Fellows, Mentors, and Donors
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the issues related to REDI

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least seven years of consistently growing outcomes in engineering, product, technical recruiting, project management, or related disciplines
  • Experience with curriculum and objective design for hybrid learners balancing multiple priorities
  • Respected people manager skilled at giving, receiving, and implementing feedback on a team
  • Analytical decision-maker, with ability to present how success will be measured and convey reasoning behind a decision through connecting intent, data, and organization goals/impact
  • Resourceful, adaptive, and creative project manager, multi-tasker, and problem-solver
  • Personal and/or professional experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities
  • Experience with advocating for the importance of breaking down barriers for Black and Latinx professionals
  • Confident to communicate verbally and in writing with, present to, and steward relationships with executive leaders across industries, including: entrepreneurial, corporate, civic, academic, philanthropic and venture capital


BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in a startup or small and fast-paced work environment
  • Knowledge of, and connections with, New York and Boston leaders in tech, education, business, and/or policy
  • Experience generating impact in racial equity, diversity, and inclusion

Benefits

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $95,000 - $140,000 (Boston) or $100,000 - $145,000 (New York) base salary commensurate with experience and potential
  • Up to 10% annual performance-based bonus on top of base salary
