We are currently seeking a Sr. Strategic Sourcing Specialist to help support our drive for explosive, profitable growth. This individual will report to the Director of Strategic Sourcing and will act as an individual contributor in support of strategic sourcing activities, with a specific focus on packaging. As a Sr. Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will be a key driver in shaping and executing our sourcing strategy to optimize supplier relationships, mitigate risks and drive cost optimization. This position works closely with Product Development & Design, Packaging, Supply Chain teams, Finance as well as outside suppliers.  We value a trail-blazing approach to work and expect Duke Cannon Team Members to take this approach.

Primary Responsibilities:
While working on this team, you will have an opportunity to make an immediate impact with noticeable results. Position responsibilities include early supplier involvement, negotiations and supplier qualification to deliver on time, cost targets, quality standards while mitigating risk.  Specific responsibilities include:
  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, leveraging market insights and supplier intelligence to drive competitive advantage.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supplier Evaluation and Selection: Conduct thorough assessments of potential suppliers, evaluating capabilities, performance history, and financial stability to ensure alignment with company requirements.
  • Negotiation and Contract Management: Draft, review and manage contracts to mitigate risks and ensure compliance. Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and contractual agreements.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost reduction and value creation through supplier optimization, process improvements, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Sourcing Process Improvement: Continually evaluate sourcing processes and procedures to identify areas for improved efficiencies. Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
  • Project Management: Lead strategic sourcing projects from inception to implementation, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines and budgets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, supply chain, product development/innovation, packaging engineering, and finance teams, to align sourcing strategies with business needs and objectives.
  • Compliance and Ethical Sourcing: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, including ethical sourcing practices, environmental regulations, and labor laws.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate is expected to be a creative and resourceful self-starter who is enthusiastic about learning with a commitment to excellence. We are looking for a person driven by a desire to contribute, be challenged and grow.  Specific requirements include:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field (or equivalent work experience); packaging experience within the consumer products industry preferred
  • Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of key contract terms
  • Strong analytical and technical aptitude
  • Attention to detail and high standards of work quality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights
  • Project management experience, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results
  • 5-7 years of strategic sourcing or procurement, or supply chain operations; preferred focus on consumer-packaged goods (CPG). 
Reporting Structure and Company Location
This person will report to the Director of Strategic Sourcing but will work closely with Product Experience as well as Supply Chain and Finance.
