Cogir Senior Living is hiring a friendly, customer-focused, and attentive Driver to support the Activity department in our premier retirement community Cogir at the Narrows.

Our Driver/Activity Assistant will ensure the safe transportation of our residents to and from various destinations, such as appointments or activity group outings, assisting them with safe onboarding as necessary. They will drive the community van 3 days a week, and support our Activity Director and Life Enrichment team in organizing and leading a variety of life-enrichment activities in small and large group settings, when not driving our residents. This is a full-time role, 5 days a week.

What will you do as a Driver?

  • Provide safe, reliable, courteous, and efficient transportation service for the residents to and from various human service locations, work sites, educational institutions, medical facilities, grocery stores, drug stores, and others.
  • Assist residents in and out of the vehicle, utilizing the wheelchair lift/stairs as needed; opening, and closing doors, and loading/unloading walkers and wheelchairs, as needed.
  • Lead or assist with group, and one-on-one, social, religious, educational, indoor, and outdoor activities, exercise, as well as assist with outings.
  • Facilitate games, conversations, exercise classes, art and music, trips, and special events.
  • Lead assigned activities, while encouraging resident participation.
  • Prepare the van for operation and coordinate necessary vehicle maintenance.
  • Follow and understand the rules of the road and transportation safety procedures.
  • Maintain current driving license per state regulations to perform transportation services.
  • Assist in the resident programs as needed with resident activities and special events set-up.

If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat:

  • A positive team player mentality and passion for serving seniors!
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in the operation of large vehicles; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • A valid state driver's license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • A minimum of one year of driving in transportation services is preferred, ideally in the retirement industry (IL, AL, or MC), or medical field, with a proven track record of focus on customer service.
