Job Description
Position Summary:
Kirby Rehabilitation is looking for a full-time Peer Support Specialist to join our Mobile Crisis Response Team. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team for clients who require community-based services and will use your own life experience to engage individuals in crisis, assist individuals with engaging in services and supports, and development of an individualized recovery plan. The MCR team will operate 24-hour emergency services, 7 days a week.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & TASKS:
Ability to work as part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team that utilizes a range of evidence-based treatment modalities to help individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders work towards their treatment goals.
Provide peer support services in the community and homes, as this position does require home visits. Shifts are during and after business hours, on call, and include some weekends.
Uses own life experience to engage individuals in crisis, assist individuals with engaging in services and supports, and development of an individualized recovery plan.
Plays an advocacy role that promotes self-care, self-management, wellness, and recovery.
Completes documentation and participates in team meetings.
Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required and is capable of obtaining the CRSS credential within one year of the date of hire.
Lived experience with mental illness, substance abuse, or violence/domestic abuse and the ability to meet the essential requirements of the job is required.
The position requires a high level of professionalism, ethical behaviors, and effective communication skills. The ability to sensitively work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures is required.
Maintain all documentation that is required in a complete and timely manner and comply with all HIPAA and IDPH requirements.
A valid drivers license and auto insurance preferred.
Must pass mandatory background checks and pre-employment drug screen.
