Job Description
Salary: $50,000-$60,000 Annually

RH Strategic is seeking a public relations specialist to join its team in Washington, D.C. The PR Specialist role is ideal for professionals seeking to gain experience in owning project management, facilitating speaking and awards programs, researching and identifying media trends and pitching and managing the media. RH Strategic is well-established public relations agency with a robust client portfolio across the technology, security, healthcare sustainability and education industries. Our clients are Fortune 500 brands and well-funded start-ups with an exciting vision for the future. Our team of nearly 40 communications professionals connect these innovators with opportunities to showcase their thought leadership, build their brands and advocate for their issues.


As a PR Specialist at RH Strategic, you will:

  • Support day-to-day account work, including media list management and oversight, media strategy and outreach, tracking and reporting, event planning and campaign coordination.
  • Monitor news cycles and propose ideas to insert clients into the narrative.
  • Draft high-quality communications materials.
  • Own award and speaking programs including tracking, client communication and content development.
  • Tell clients’ stories to target audiences in creative ways.
  • Cultivate relationships with industry reporters that lead to earned media opportunities.
  • Learn from and collaborate with experienced account leadership and mentors to further enrich your career path.


Requirements:

  • 2 years of PR experience (can include 3-6 months of PR agency internships).
  • Ability to meet and or exceed deadlines.
  • Understanding of how to prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to communicate succinctly via email and over the phone with media targets in print, online, and broadcast mediums.
  • Experience owning events, editorial calendar, speaking and awards programs.
  • Ability to comprehend client’s business, issues, and competitive environments, and contribute to storytelling opportunities.
  • Ability to take feedback and apply it to future work. Should possess a natural curiosity and a desire to grow.
  • Must be detail oriented, have strong spelling and grammar skills, and understand AP Style.
  • Must be able to communicate challenges and propose solutions for prioritization and deadline expectations.


Preferred:

  • An appreciation for innovators shaping our future in healthcare, tech, security, sustainability and education sectors and exposure to some issues driving innovation in the space.
  • Experience owning projects from concept to completion and regularly reporting into teams and account managers.
  • Exposure to client communication and some media counsel.
  • Experience in digital, paid, content, social and analytics.


Salary: $50,000-$60,000 annually.

This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. The Company may, in its discretion, also offer an annual bonus in an amount, if any, to be determined by the Company. Bonuses are not guaranteed.

  • Insurance: 100% paid base premium for employee’s medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurances.
  • Transportation Subsidy: $100 per month.
