For nearly 50 years, CET has helped people and businesses save energy and reduce waste. As a mission-driven non-profit, we partner with city and state agencies, utilities, homeowners, and business owners across the U.S. to build a just and equitable transition to the low-carbon economy.

Benefits

CET provides you with excellent benefits including vacation, holiday, and personal/sick time; medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; and a retirement plan with a company match. CET provides a monthly $85 stipend for your home internet and/or phone expenses. We cultivate a friendly and supportive environment to help us achieve our mission impact goals.

This is a full-time exempt position. You may work remotely or may work out of our office in Northampton, Massachusetts. CET will provide you with a laptop and other office technology.

We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented person to join our team as a Bids and Proposal Specialist! You will work with the business development team to prepare and coordinate a continuous flow of proposals in response to RFIs and RFPs related to CET’s areas of work in energy and waste.

CET has a diverse set of revenue streams from several dozen clients and funding partners and we continuously bid on new work to expand our programs and services. Our diverse portfolio and active business development helps mitigate against ebbs and flows in our workforce needs.

For this exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference in the realm of decarbonization, you’re a great fit if you can:

  • Assess bids and proposal requirements to determine strategic alignment with CET’s mission, skills, and operations.
  • Research and identify available opportunities, primarily among state and federal agencies, utilities, and foundations, and register the organization on applicable platforms.
  • Seek out and identify potential data and research to support work.
  • Develop competitive and compelling bids and proposals under deadline pressure.
  • Adjust writing style to conform with the expectations of the respective audiences.
  • Keep up-to-date on assigned platforms known to have RFP, RFR, grant application opportunities, etc. and developing and maintaining systems to monitor these.
  • Maintain Salesforce database to track and manage the status of all pipeline opportunities.
  • Ensure written materials conform to CET standards for content, style, and quality and ensures all proposal attachments are complete.

      This crucial role makes a difference in people's lives and helps the environment. You will bring to this position:

      • A passion for the non-profit, environmental mission of CET.
      • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of successful proposal and report coordination.
      • Strong writing and editing experience.
      • Ability to write persuasive and compelling narrative that effectively and accurately interprets and communicates CET’s mission and operations to fit submission requirements.
      • Ability to achieve a high standard of quality and accuracy in verbal and written communications while working in a deadline driven environment, where over 90% of revenue is tied to winning proposals.
      • Eagerness to learn.
      • High speed internet access and a working location free from distractions and interference during 8:30 am - 5:00 pm EST business hours.

      About Us

      For all of our work, we bring together a diverse team of environmental consultants, building scientists, engineers, sales, operations, and communications specialists to implement cost-effective and lasting solutions. We’re a hands-on, action-oriented organization—everyday someone on our team is:

      • Conducting residential and commercial energy audits and advising building owners on efficiency and electrification opportunities;
      • Helping businesses reduce waste, including improving recycling or implementing wasted food diversion programs;
      • Working with a municipal electric utility to build innovative financing and incentive programs to accelerate electrification;
      • Designing outreach materials that help make green make sense for our target audience.

      The need to tackle climate change and rapidly decarbonize our economy makes our work more urgent than ever!

      CET is committed to racial justice and inclusion. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Framework spans all internal and external policies, practices, and services. The candidates we seek share this commitment to equity and find fulfillment in building an inclusive culture in a collaborative, non-linear, and continuous learning environment.

      CET is an equal opportunity employer and provider. We strive for a welcoming and inclusive environment. Diverse applicants are encouraged to apply. You may include military service assignments and any verified work performed on a volunteer basis.
