Lead QA Engineer

We are currently seeking a Lead QA Engineer, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of NESN.com, the NESN 360 mobile and connected TV apps available on iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Google TV, and our broader digital ecosystem.

The Lead QA Engineer will be hands-on developing test plans, designing and executing test cases, performing manual testing of the website and applications including running and/or developing scripts to verify data, and interfacing with 3rd party testing vendors to identify, communicate, and resolve defects.

Please note: this is hybrid role requiring 4 days onsite in Watertown, MA

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

• Champion product quality through the organization and help identify, quantify, prioritize, and solve quality issues before our customers face them
• Develop the strategy to create test plans to automate the testing process
• Own the testing process by planning, scheduling, organizing, and coordinating cross-functional QA efforts
• Review feature / functionality and user story requirements; document the testing Use Cases before development begins
• Make testing an integral part of the development process while increasing the level of test automation and quality practices
• Perform QA testing to ensure high quality software is delivered in each release
• Report, track, and manage any discovered defects to resolution
• Participate in product backlog grooming sessions (as needed) in order to develop and lead testing automation opportunities as appropriate
• Prepare test coverage and defects metrics to substantiate release decisions
• Successfully complete other related projects or tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Technical degree and/or certifications
• 5+ years of experience in a QA and/or software development role that leans toward automation
• 2+ years testing mobile, connected TV, and/or web applications
• Passion for delivering high quality products to consumers
• Excellent knowledge of testing processes and practice with solid understanding of Agile (Scrum) methodology and practices
• Experience working with Jira, UI test automation tools, and test case management software
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a cross functional environment that includes 3rd party development, technology, and QA partners
• Able to solve problems as an individual and within a team
• Excellent communication skills and fluency with data
• Open-minded, always learning, and with a high degree of ownership
• Excellent time-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, make decisions, and recommend solutions
• Self-motivated. Able to work independently with minimal direction, multi-tasking as needed
• Team-focused proactive and reliable self-starter able to work efficiently with geographically distributed teams
