Contract - QA (Copy Editor)

Tipping Point Solutions is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, and results-oriented Quality Control Associate who's capable of ensuring the accuracy of blended learning curricula and course content by reviewing and editing learning materials and project deliverables. A successful candidate will:

• Provide and commit to weekly availability times

Candidate must be self-motivated, highly focused and able to effectively express ideas and concepts to team members. Excellent attention to detail and consistency is very important. The candidate will work with QA Lead and follow QA processes to ensure quality control of innovative courseware products.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Editing:
  • Edit documents for spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Wordsmithing to improve writing without changing the meaning/content
  • Crosswalk narration text for pronunciation of acronyms and foreign words
  • Review documents for standardization in style, layout, and design
• Voice Over:
  • Compare audio to script for accuracy
  • Identify inconsistency in sound
  • Crosswalk pronunciation of acronyms and foreign words
• Closed Captioning:
  • Use application to convert audio files to a closed caption (cc) file
  • Verify/update text in cc matches storyboard (SB)
  • Verify/update transition timing of cc is correct
• eLearning-viewing training in a learning management system (LMS)
  • Test for functionality of training and interactive items
  • Verify cc/transcript text and timing is accurate
  • Verify accuracy of on-screen text against SB
  • Ensure on-screen transitions make sense and follow SB instructions
  • Ensure accuracy of template style and standards

Job Requirements:

• 1-3 years quality assurance or directly related experience
• 1-3 years of experience in editing
• Understanding of Instructional Design, Courseware development and/or Multimedia principles is desirable
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong English grammar knowledge
• Strong familiarity with GPO style guides
• Familiarity with CMS (Chicago Manual of Style), Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications, and client specific style guides
• Strong attention to detail and desire to follow procedures
• Ability to manage responsibilities and priorities in a fast-paced and time-critical environment
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and ability to learn technology quickly
• Experience with SCORM standards Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline is desirable
• Experience with copy and functional editing is desirable
• Must be able to adhere to identified design metrics
• Must provide and commit to weekly availability
