GENERAL FUNCTIONS

The Director, Executive Leadership/CEO Search will be an innovative leader that will serve as a strategic partner with local YMCA CEO transition search committees, boards of directors, Alliance partners, and other key stakeholders to identify qualified candidates to lead local Ys throughout the country.

This position delivers resources for attracting and retaining top talent, evaluating, and forecasting workforce needs, improving processes and builds and shares best practices for recruitment and retention. The position is part of a department whose commitment is to execute an equitable search process. Additionally, this leader will leverage and multiply the talents, skills and resources of local YMCA staff and volunteers in their efforts to turn activity into impact via successful CEO searches, CEO coaching, Succession Planning, and Interim CEOs.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources/business administration or equivalent work experience is preferred.

• Leadership service within a not-for-profit community-based organization (YMCA or similar) and/or within a staffing agency or search firm environment is preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in executive level talent management and/or executive recruitment is preferred.

• Knowledge of employment law related to hiring practices (i.e., EEO, FLSA and ADA) is required.

• Demonstrated track record of improving quality and success of hires and reduction in recruitment cycle times is required.

• The ability to travel up to 30% of the time is required.

• Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, build relationships within complex groups, create partnerships, and manage projects are required.

• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required.

• Proven ability to manage complex strategic situations and create comprehensive solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Partner with key association leaders and human resources teams to develop comprehensive workforce development plans that anticipate staffing needs of local YMCA associations for CEO’s.

• Identify recruiting strategies to bring top quality, diverse candidates to the organization in a timely manner.

• Directly manage the search process for key positions, particularly CEO positions in mid and small-sized local YMCA associations

• Track recruitment performance and results and provide direction to continuously improve results and return on investment.

• Work closely and consult with hiring managers on setting open position specifications and by providing support throughout the recruiting cycle.

• Manage tools and resources to make the hiring process more efficient, consistent, and effective.

• Support and engage in the proactive plan for diversity recruiting initiatives.

• Keep abreast of federal, state, and local regulations affecting employment practices and procedures; educate local associations to ensure compliance.

• Develop best practices related to the hiring process, keeping in mind the varying needs of local YMCAs and their communities.

• Utilize a variety of recruiting methods, including web technology, employee referrals, networking, contingent/retained search, competitive/peer marketing and print advertisements.

• Facilitate development of internal and external networks to identify top talent.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


EFFECT ON END RESULTS/STRATEGIC IMPACT

This position will support development of a diverse candidate pool for CEO searches; and partner with local YMCA staff to effectively execute the talent acquisition process for local Ys. This position is key to the department’s primary goals: increase capacity of local Ys to think, act, and communicate as cause-driven organizations; integrate shared national goals at the local Y level, and achieve high satisfaction ratings from YMCA CEOs and CVOs on support efforts. This position will provide effective delivery of resources to local YMCAs in the assigned specialty resulting in enhanced local community YMCA impact.


***This position offers at mininum, a base salary of $110,900.00 to up to $147,800.00 . Final salary is determined by required qualifications, experience, and education for this role.
