Position Summary

The Master CNC Machinist supports production of components and machined parts by creating programming for and operating Computer Numerical Control lathes, traditional conventional machines, and vertical limits. This individual will support timely changeovers while maintaining safety and quality standards, supply levels, and equipment in pursuit of Pneu-Dart's operating objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Create and verify program accuracy to support manufacturing process.
  • Perform design calculations and recommend equipment, time, and material specifications, supporting cost analysis when needed for new components.
  • Evaluate systems based on quantitative results and make suggestions for the improvement of these systems.
  • Work with Design Engineers, review existing product design and prototypes for compliance with engineering principals, company standards, customer requirements and related specifications.
  • Design and create basic molds and model part geometry changes for moldability.
  • Generate toolpath programs for 3-Axis and 4-Axis Machining Center
  • Evaluate tooling needs and make purchasing proposals for the same.
  • Make recommendations to mold designers to facilitate ease of manufacturing, quality of part, and equipment compatibility.
  • Coordinate and conduct training with new department members.
  • Integrate automation techniques using the latest equipment & technology.
  • Participate in team collaboration for problem solving and new innovations.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Extensive CNC machining process and ability to write code.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Continuous Improvement methods and practices.
  • Must exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills, be team and customer focused with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to manufacturing and maintenance.
  • Ability to manage commitments and time by prioritizing and communicating focus topics.
  • Experience in leading and training others is helpful but not required.
  • Work closely with the team and suggest routine process enhancements.
  • Research and stay up to date with software and cutter capabilities.


Education & Experience
  • Post secondary education in related fields preferred and/or directly transferable experience.

Metal & Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to physically complete required tasks of the position, including remaining sedentary for extended periods of time, moving 50-75 pounds, and maneuvering as needed within a manufacturing environment.
