Who we need:

The role of the residential supervisor is overseeing the daily operations of the residential program and ensuring compliance with funder requirements and licensing agencies. This position manages the day-to-day operations and services provided within the program and ensures proper Youth Development Specialist recruitment, training and 24/7 staff coverage. of the Duties also include recruitment and training of staff, provision of direct client services, overseeing facility maintenance, and administration of the food program.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Acts as visionary in terms of developing and implementing the shelter program in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Family Resources.
  • Aids in the creation of and support of a positive culture within the agency with the YDS; ensures that the YDS fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and quality services to clients.
  • Ensures that accountability, strong performance and a positive culture is evident within the team and program.
  • Ensures that all funder trainings are met by designated timeframes for self and staff supervised.
  • Ensures that all agency and funder standards, policies and procedures are known and adhered to in the delivery of services.
  • Responsible for ensuring the shelter program meets key performance indicators (KPI's), benchmarks and deliverables annually. and that these indicators drive accountability, performance, and positive culture within the programs.
  • Ensures compliance and proper reporting with the DOH food program.
  • Supervises and coordinates residential activities, to include daily groups, scheduled recreation and outings, consistent positive client engagement from staff, transportation of clients to/from school or appointments as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring 24-hour staff coverage and willingness to work when coverage requirements are not met.
  • Ensures that staff on all shifts are monitored at least monthly to include 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am and weekends. To accomplish this, this position is required to work at least one 3-11pm shift monthly and one shift on a weekend monthly. This position will also ensure that 11pm-7am staff are monitored for at least two hours of their shift monthly.
  • Provides proper onboarding of new YDS to include 40 hours of shadowing.
  • Ensures that the client behavior motivation system is adhered to and consistently applied.
  • Maintains the facility to ensure it is inviting and visually pleasing.
  • Ensures all maintenance needs are addressed quickly and ensures the facility passes all inspections within required timeframes to ensure shelter is safe and harm-free to our clients and employees.
  • Ensures that all direct reports are met monthly for individual supervision, guidance and adherence with policy and procedures. Ensures that each supervision is documented in accordance with agency policy.
  • Must hold a monthly agenda-driven staff meeting at a time that ensures the best attendance of staff.
  • Ensures that any necessary staff discipline is done in coordination with the HR Department and documented in accordance with agency policy.
  • Must possess a cellular phone to be used for business purposes.
  • Participate in various committees as assigned.
  • Assist other agency shelters as requested.
  • During weather-related emergencies such as hurricanes which require coordination and/or evacuation, this position is required to work on-site with the designated hurricane teams to ensure the safe facilitation of client movement and security of the facility.
  • Must be on-call at designated times to provide support to the shelter staff. While on-call the expectation is a timely response of within 15 minutes.

Skills, Abilities and Other Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate acceptance and comfort with clients, staff, co-workers, and community contact with diverse backgrounds and cultural differences.
  • Must adhere to trauma informed care approach with clients.
  • Must successfully complete all agency and funder trainings in required time frames.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, well developed verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively deal with complex issues.
  • Must maintain a high degree of professionalism and reliability within areas of responsibility by providing leadership, direction, motivation, and training.
  • Should possess characteristics that show sound judgment in fulfilling position duties and responsibilities as well as a cooperative attitude in working relationships with senior members of management.
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver's License and auto insurance for personal vehicle and a clean driving history.
  • Must be dependable, discrete and possess good judgment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide adequate supervision and guidance to YDS staff.
  • Must demonstrate awareness and acceptance of LGBTQ community.
  • Must be able to pass a Level II background screening.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in the human services field with 2 years of experience working with youth preferred; a minimum of 5 years' experience working with youth and experience working in a residential setting.
  • 2 years of management/supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent sitting, standing and/or walking.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers
  • The ability to hear and respond quickly to sounds.
  • Close, distance and peripheral vision
  • Occasional driving
