Salary: $16/hour

Internship is 4 days a week, with 3 in the office.


 

Job Summary


SJR Editorial Interns help power the content generation engine that ensures SJR is seen as a leading agency in digital content solutions around the world.  

  

Our Editorial Interns are talented all-rounders, equal parts researchers, fact-checkers, content coordinators and team players. They are meticulous above all else, able to work across a broad range of verticals and touch all aspects of content, from social posts and articles to infographics and feature articles, ensuring the delivery of error-free, well-researched work that meets SJR’s content marketing standards. 

  

A motivated learner and nimble thinker with a can-do attitude, the Editorial Intern is interested in and informed on the latest cultural and digital trends and can apply their growing knowledge and skills to content strategy. They are excellent communicators who can collaborate across all SJR teams — Editorial, Creative, Account, Analytics — to help map out and communicate ideas clearly and concisely, all while tracking the accuracy and fluency of each content output. In short, they play an integral role in facilitating the editorial process. They're also have either recently graduated or on their final year of their academic journey,

    

Responsibilities


Content Generation(60%)

  • Actively participates in ideation and brainstorming sessions  
  • Conducts background research for associate editors, editors, and senior editors to use in developing stories 
  • Ensures information is represented accurately and goes through the editing and fact-checking process 
  • Writesfor different mediums: web, social, film, infographic, meta data for web, etc. 
  • Self-edits content asneeded, or directed by editors, to improve accuracy, readability and consistency while incorporating all client feedback and meeting client-specific style guides   
  • Undertakes visual searches for articles (images and videos) 
  • Collaborates with creative team to ideate and concept accompanying visual assets that bring stories to life, i.e., infographics, animation, videos, etc. 
  • Provides thoughtful feedback on production videos, graphics and other production outputs

 

Content Coordination(30%)

  • Attends and participates in weekly editorial team and client status meetings 
  • Comes to meetings equipped with background on topics and ideas as per the agenda 
  • Analyzes client briefs toidentify key narrative, format and distribution opportunities  
  • Supports smooth operation of the editorial team by updating editorial calendars, scheduling editorial meetings and keeping web-based applications (such as Monday and Asana) up-to-date 
  • Supports Client Services team with client expansion opportunities through research, ideation and assisting with presentations 
  • Manages time and workflow efficiently — takes responsibility for deadlines and delivery, flags potential issues early, works with the wider team to identify solutions 
  • Stays on top of content trends and what drives interest and industry news for assigned clients 

   

Growth +Business Development(10%)

  • Monitors news and trends relevant to key clients/accounts they are working on to identify risks that may impact current projects and opportunities to develop and pitch relevant new ideas 
  • Supports pitch development through research and writing supporting material   


About SJR’s Internship Program


SJR’s Internship Program supports a diverse cohort of students and recent graduates in their pursuit to their chosen career paths in the journalism, creative and marketing communications industries. The 12-week program offers a unique experience working side by side with industry experts on real-world assignments while being mentored and coached. The program provides a space for building meaningful relationships and professional development.

End Date: August 23, 2024

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting is $16/hr. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
