- Interfaces, communicates, and integrates with all members of school community in promotion of a supportive, strengths-based team approach that puts kids first.
Position specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Identify and evaluate eligible students for all special services.
- Secure and schedule outside professionals special service providers as needed.
- Review, update and maintain confidential files, maintain confidentiality and security of documentation.
- Complete and file all required reports with with ADE Special Services
- Maintain good relationships with ADE and ensure compliance.
- Write IEP’s, MET reports, 504 plans and complete any necessary paperwork in partnership with team and parents.
- Classroom observations and confer with regular ED teachers.
- Arrange and conduct parent & teacher meetings as needed.
- Supervise any SPED personnel as assigned. Find and secure contracted service providers. Possible other management/mentorship of teachers as assigned.
- Conduct small group classes for special education students in compliance with IEP goals and requirements. Conduct small intervention groups for at risk students.
- Confer with regular education teachers regarding implementation of the IEP and meeting the needs of special education students and other special needs students.
- Conduct and document observations of special education students or others at risk students in their regular education classrooms.
- Schedule and attend meetings and conferences related to special services
- Conduct small intervention groups for at risk students and additional social skill groups.
- Meet with parents at scheduled conferences and upon reasonable request by parents during the interim to discuss the student's progress or problems.
- Attend all staff meetings, in-service training or other presentations that might be scheduled throughout the contract year.
- Consult)/meet with Administration on a regular basis to ensure effective ongoing communication.
- Serve as a Department Manager attending all Management meetings.
Qualifications for Teachers:
- Master’s Degree in Special Education preferred.
- Must be certified in Special Education with endorsements in Specific Learning Disability: Cross Categorical &/or Mild-Moderate.
- Other endorsements would be helpful.
