Job Description: Maintenance Supervisor

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and directing the maintenance technicians in repair, planned maintenance and project activities of the plant. This position is also expected to perform maintenance technician functions in a safe and efficient manner to support the achievement of the company’s business goals and objectives.

1. Qualifications: Associates degree in an engineering or business-related field preferred;
2. At least 5 years work in a technical field preferred;
3. Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with team members;
4. Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making;
5. Able to perform under deadlines;
6. Able to work a flexible schedule;
7. Competencies: Demonstrated organizational and planning skills;
8. Can manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion;
9. Mechanical/electrical background is necessary. Apprenticeship program or technical school background is desirable;
10. Good math skills and computer skills;
11. Ethical Conduct (Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, Excellence);
12. Communication Proficiency;
13. Results Driven;
14. Initiative – must be able to work with little supervision;

1. Essential Duties: Comply with all safety requirements, utilize the STOP program and maintain clean/orderly work areas;
2. Successfully complete all required trainings, and attend/participate in required team meetings;
3. Evaluate workload and distribute work among all shifts;
4. Coach employees in safe work practices including compliance to lockout/tagout;
5. Ensure employee adherence to all plant and department policies.
6. Monitor employee performance and take appropriate actions when expectations are or aren’t met;
7. Assist the Buyer-Maintenance planner in the identification of parts needs and planning of work orders;
8. Evaluate and develop technician’s skills;
9. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service;
10. Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, welding, troubleshooting and repair of production machines;
11. Perform electrical skills including but not limited to troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment, drives, faulty wiring, etc.;
12. Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities;
13. Assist the Director of Engineering & Maintenance in annual employee evaluations:

Physical Requirements:

Standing / walking -15% of the time;

Lifting 50 pounds max, occasionally.
