About the role: The Executive Director will serve as a chief administrator, providing leadership and implementing policies and programs to carry out the work of the organization. The Executive Director oversees the daily administration of the organization by implementing policies, procedures and programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Reports to the Board of Directors, maintaining open communication and disclosure of the conditions, operations, and needs of the organization.
  • Under the directive of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will work to fulfill the Mission of the Collaborative.
  • Directs, administers, and supervises all programs and services provided by the Collaborative.
  • Draft, presents, and recommends organizational policies and programs to the Board.
  • Oversees preparation of the annual budget.
  • Facilitates periodic audits and compliance activities for the organization.
  • Supports and directs public relations activities to build and maintain relationships with other organizations and the public.
  • Conduct needs assessments throughout the collaborative geographic area concerning the needs of the School Districts and informs the member districts Special Education Directors, Superintendents and member School Committees of any new Collaborative initiatives.
  • Screens, interviews and recommends qualified personnel for filling vacancies.
  • Evaluates senior leadership.
  • Acts as liaison between personnel employed by the collaborative, the Board of Directors, school administrators, and member school committees.
  • Collaborates with area special education administrators in providing programs and services.
  • Facilitates arrangements to obtain and maintain suitable physical facilities for programs and services.
  • Coordinates with appropriate personnel in specific programs and services in the preparation of annual budget. Coordinates with the Business Manager, Finance Committee, and Treasurer to bring the proposed budget to the full Board.
  • Responsible for sound fiscal practices and accounting procedures.
  • Maintains necessary records and statistics to prepare and complete required reports for the Collaborative, member school systems, State and Federal Agencies.
  • Researches and prepares project applications for State and/or Federal funding.
  • Acts as continuous liaison between the Collaborative, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and other agencies to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations pertinent to collaboratives.
  • Maintains professional knowledge by attending relevant conferences, meetings and other professional development and engages in activities and membership in relevant professional associations.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ensure student/staff confidentiality as appropriate within the educational Team
  • Contribute to professional growth and collaboration by staying informed on current literature/resources in the field and actively participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Any other duties as prescribed by the Board of Directors.


Candidate requirements:
  • A minimum of Masters Degree in Special Education or Educational Administration or related field, Doctorate preferred.
  • Licensure as a Special Education Administrator and/or Supervisor/Director and/or Superintendent of Schools.
  • A minimum of five years experience in special education teaching or related field.
  • Five years relevant supervisory experience.
  • Preferred collaborative experience.
