Customer Accounting Representative

We are seeking a Customer Accounting Representative to join our Finance team! This position is responsible for the maintenance of subscriber billing and advertising accounts including entry and reconciliation of payments and refunds within the associated systems. This person would own or assist in identification and subsequent research of procedural errors to ensure correction in the related systems. Additionally, this person would provide courteous, efficient, and timely service to customers (i.e., subscribers, advertisers, and other internal departments).

Responsibilities:

• Ensure subscriber billing and account balance accuracy by reviewing daily transaction and exception reports.
• Identify, research, document and resolve transaction and procedural errors in the billing systems.
• Provide courteous and efficient customer service to internal and external inquiries via phone and e-mail channels. This includes working with various Circulation, Advertising and Finance team members.
• Post payments, refunds, cash transfers, NSFs, and other cash-related adjustments to the billing system accounts.
• Reconcile cash and credit card transactions in billing systems against the general ledger for complete and accurate entry.
• Review refund transactions for accuracy and reasonableness prior to accounts payable processing.
• Prepare various weekly/monthly invoices and internal reports.
• Prepare journal entries related to revenue and bank transactions in support of monthly financial close.
• Prepare Rotary Off Press/Commercial Printing invoicing and payments.
• Perform Rotary Off Press/Commercial collection efforts including phone calls, letters, and emails while keeping detailed notes and records of all points of contact.
• Assist in special projects and reports as requested.
• Provide backup, vacation relief, and cross training for other Customer Accounting team members.
• Analyze, recommend, and assist in the enhancement of controls, reporting and systems.

Qualifications:

• Education: College degree preferred.
• Experience: One or more years of experience working in a billing related environment preferred.
• Experience in customer service.
• Experience working with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational skills to handle a high volume of moderately complex transactions and meet daily/weekly/monthly deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task, work under deadline pressure and as a member of a team.
• Attention to detail and accuracy, and excellent math ability.

Compensation: The full salary range for this position is $47,700 to $63,800. We typically pay between $47,700 and $58,400, depending on experience and qualifications.
