Diverse Learner Teacher

Quantum LEEP Academy, is now hiring a Diverse Learner Teacher for our therapeutic clinic in the K- 8th grade program in Ravenswood. 

Quantum LEEP Academy is partnered with LEEP Forward, a multidisciplinary clinic with Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health, Developmental and Behavioral services. Children enrolled in our programming are between the ages of 6-14 years old with a variety of developmental differences, including autism. 

The teacher will lead a classroom of 3-15 students using the compelling developmentally aligned curriculum created by QLA. Classrooms are multi-age/grade levels and are created with individual student profiles in mind. This role will partner with our clinical team and educational leadership in the development and tailoring of the curriculum to fit the individuals and classroom needs.

Teachers at QLA support these goals by:

• Scaffolding and teaching for print, sensory and digital environments for varying developmental levels
• Working alongside therapeutic team integrating academic and therapeutic goals in target areas
• Developing immersive and meaningful experiences to support engagement with content
• Structuring classroom environment with a student-centered, strengths based and developmentally informed focus

• Adapting the day to day activities and ideas to support the QLA play based, therapeutic framework
• Demonstrating student growth using multiple modalities
• Utilizing effective and appropriate classroom management strategies to create a socially and emotionally supportive classroom community
• Encouraging and valuing involvement and integration of perspectives from all classroom team members 

Basic Qualifications of the teacher

• Holds a Bachelor degree; special education or other relevant subject area
• 2+ years of experience working in educational settings, with evidence of excellence in instruction at relevant age levels and/or developmental levels
• Understands the progression of standards relative to grade level bands
• Proven experience publishing or adapting education materials for diverse learning
• Knowledge in differentiated teaching methods and classroom management skills
• Effectively communicates with caregivers to ensure their involvement in their child’s programming

Preferred Qualifications of the teacher:

• Master’s, or other advanced, degree in education or special education
• Proven experience working with students of diverse levels of preparation and background or creative use of online media in adapting education materials

This position does not require licensure with relevant, proven experience. 

Please note, this position requires a year round commitment. An ideal candidate initially commits to one year.
