A bit about the role:

Cantina, Inc. is searching for its first Head of Community Programming to take charge of all in-app editorial touchpoints, including owned rooms, room programming, featured bots, and featured themes. As a pivotal member of the Community team, you will be responsible for curating and owning the editorial direction of our platform, ensuring that it remains engaging, culturally relevant, and aligned with our brand identity. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working in-house to create a calendar of compelling editorial live video/audio programming and is someone excited about how AI creative tools can be used to support and enhance social experiences. Additionally, experience with authentic and organic live programming, ownership of live programming stream calendars, and collaboration with moderation teams are highly valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the editorial strategy for all in-app touchpoints, including staff-owned rooms/channels in app (plus its live programming), featured bots, and featured bot themes.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage and integrate our AI tools into live programming and events.
  • Identify trending bots and recommend bot concepts to curate into our Featured Bot carousel
  • Curate and maintain a diverse range of content to ensure high levels of user engagement and retention.
  • Ideate room ideas for niche interest groups paired with AI bots
  • Own the live programming stream calendar, ensuring a balance of authentic and organic content that resonates with our audience.
  • Collaborate with moderation teams to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for live programming and user interactions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align editorial content with overall business objectives and brand identity.
  • Identify and leverage emerging trends in culture, technology, and content consumption to inform editorial decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to optimize content effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and competitive landscape to maintain a leading-edge editorial strategy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, or related field.
  • Experience with AI is a plus!
  • 5+ years of experience in editorial content management, preferably in a digital media or tech company.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful editorial strategies that drive user engagement and retention.
  • Experience managing and building teams.
  • Strong understanding of digital content formats, including live video and audio programming.
  • Experience owning live programming stream calendars and curating authentic and organic content.
  • Prior experience working with moderation teams to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for user interactions.
  • Experience working with brands and partners to create compelling editorial content.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and a pulse on contemporary culture.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Location:

This is a hybrid role, based in either Los Angeles or San Francisco, as a majority of the Community Team is based in those cities. Cantina, Inc. currently has offices located in Sunnyvale, CA and Brooklyn, NY.

Pay Equity:

In compliance with Pay Transparency Laws, the salary range for this role ranges from $125,000 - $150,000. When determining salary rate, a number of factors will be considered, including skills, experience, job scope, and location.
