Chicago / NYC + Full Time
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a seasoned executive and veteran brand strategy professional to strengthen, lead, and grow our company.
As Managing Director, you will contribute to 50,000feet’s next phase of growth by combining your strengths in strategic brand consulting with executive leadership to drive account and new business growth, while building, scaling, and inspiring multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated experiences that transform brands in a digitally transformed world.

The ideal candidate has a balance of both left- and right-brained super-powers to tackle both strategic client challenges as well as executive and operational functions. You are a collaborator and innovator with an entrepreneurial spirit, that has rallied strategy, creative, and technology teams to deliver ground-breaking work to motivate consumers and buyers across vertical industries that span B2B, B2C, and B2B2C. You will also be responsible for developing an expansion plan to nurture and grow existing key accounts, as well as drive net new business to scale significant year-over-year growth to ultimately achieve $10M in revenue by 2026 (starting at $3.0M - $5.0M in 2023, growing to $6/7M in 2025).

A brand ambassador and the voice of 50,000feet within the market, you embody the ethos, vision, and values of the 50,000feet brand – collaboration, creativity, service and humility. You are energized by actively initiating strategic and consultative conversations with prospective clients and partners, helping grow the agency network through professional and creative associations, working closely with potential and new clients to frame opportunities, and facilitating engaging and collaborative client and agency relationships.

 
Key Areas of Focus:
  • Organic and Net New Business growth (50%)
  • Client Engagement, Delivery and Relationship Management (30%)
  • Building and Developing the MD and Client Engagement Team (10%)
  • Financial and Operational Leadership (10%)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the strategic development of 50,000feet positioning, GTM planning, and execution in the market.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the 50,000feet global brand, as an active and visible leader within the design, brand, creative and marketing communities.
  • With support from the 50,000feet Human Capital team, recruit, hire, onboard, train and retain talent to support and grow the company.
  • Work closely with 50,000feet Directors and C-Team to develop introductions and consideration by prospective clients.[TH1] 
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and value drivers; position 50,000feet as an irreplaceable strategic thought partner to clients.
  • Create and deliver compelling strategies and recommendations that to drive conversations and new business with both current and prospective clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships throughout client organizations; navigate the buying committee within client organizations to drive net new revenue growth opportunities.
  • Work closely with agency teams to define client objectives, requirements, and budgets.
  • Negotiate, manage, and sign contracts with prospective client stakeholders across client executive, marketing, technology, legal and accounting teams.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies and lead net new client business development efforts.
  • Coordinate development of client proposals and RFP responses, pitches and presentations.
  • Hire and develop talent to ensure growth in both skill level and profitable revenue generation.
  • Adapt approaches to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Oversee the development of marketing materials necessary to support business development.
  • Help to define and maintain the agency's corporate image in the business community.
  • Represent the agency with clients and at industry events.
  • Be a voice in the agency’s strategic planning process.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing, Business or Communications.
  • At least 15+ years of agency experience preferred, especially in strategic brand development and integrated brand communications programs.
  • Exceptional relationship building and negotiation skills.
  • Diplomatic with department teams and client organizations.
  • Adept at managing clients and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to think critically, creatively and big-picture.
  • Comfortable in an entrepreneurial culture and large client organizations.
  • Experience with talent recruitment, development, and retention.
  • Ability to find solutions through strategic and cost-effective ways.
  • Professional, friendly demeanor.
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong organization skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to consultatively sell 50,000feet’s suite of offerings to prospective clients.
  • Willingness to “roll up the sleeves” and do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Works well on a team and collaborates with others.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to compile, analyze, and report marketing results along with forwarding plan projections and updates.
  • Ability to interact with customers, employees, vendors, and external personnel in a professional manner.
  • Ability to effectively manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Must be diligent and persistent in follow-up.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excel in communication and interpersonal skills especially in collaborating with marketing and creative teams through rounds of edits and changes via in person, written, or over the telephone.
  • Able to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows/Mac operating system-experience with computer traffic systems.
  • Requires proficiency in Google, MacOS and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to type at a net rate of 45 wpm using a computer keyboard.
