Job Description

General Manager

As a General Manager at Fisher Barton, you will be responsible to provide direct leadership of operations and manufacturing processes at your designated Strategic Business Unit, (SBU), and to build solid relationships with customers, and peers across Fisher Barton.

You will report to the Chief Operations Officer, COO, for Fisher Barton and be a key leader of the Fisher Barton operations team. You will play an essential role in helping build and maintain our “One Fisher Barton” organizational structure.

You will do this by:

  • Providing a safe workplace for our team members, which is a core value of Fisher Barton.
  • Leading and overseeing daily operations of the Business Unit and becoming a key stakeholder supporting the One Fisher Barton structure.
  • Sharing resources, ideas, and personnel with fellow General Managers across Fisher Barton.
  • Responsible for creating and achieving Operating and Capital Budgets.
  • Responsible for creating and achieving the Revenue and Earnings Budgets.
  • Driving a unified Sales, Inventory & Operations Plan using the Fisher Barton process.
  • Partner with the sales team to execute the SBU sales strategy as well as to further develop relationships with key customers by having quarterly contact via Team’s and customer visits with the sales team.
  • Deliver business results that exceeds our sales and profit targets by collaborating with sales leaders, business development, marketing, and R&D and key account teams
  • Contribute to the Marketing process in alignment with sales team
  • Ensuring manufacturing performance and quality goals are met.
  • Responsible for Manufacturing Engineering and Customer Service at your SBU.
  • Proven success designing, implementing, communicating, and meeting KPI goals, including reducing supply chain costs, improving through-put, shortening cycle time, and improving inventory turns.
  • Maintaining weekly communications with all S.B.U.
  • Implementing company policies and providing leadership that promote customer excellence, a culture of fairness and community involvement – the 3 C’s.
  • Providing leadership and building a culture which values each member of the team and encourages retention and career development.
  • Responsible for meeting customer requirements, including delivery on time, of the highest quality.
  • Managing Cost Improvement, utilizing Lean manufacturing principles and VAVE processes.
  • Managing inventory to budgeted levels.
  • Support and sponsor Customer Focused Work Teams, empowering and enabling the teams to meet and exceed customer expectations, including managing potential conflicts of interests.
  • Preparing business reports for monthly Executive Leadership Team

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or 10+ years of experience in Operations, Engineering, or Sales selling technical product to OEM’s/or aftermarket customers
  • Expert business knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent people leadership skills.
  • Excellent change leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Blackbelt, Greenbelt or significant experience in Lean principles as they apply to manufacturing operations.
  • MBA or Blackbelt certification preferred.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 20% travel to other Fisher Barton locations, trade shows, or customer visits in the US and internationally.

Work Environment:

  • Moderate – Loud – from business office to manufacturing shop floor.
