Overview

Prestige Healthcare Resources Inc (PHRI) is seeking an experienced, pro-active, thoughtful team member who can make a substantial and valuable impact to the organization. We currently provide services to over 1,500 patients in two different states. We are in growth mode and looking to scale to providing care to over 10,000 patients in 5 different states over the next 3 years. Our focus is advocating and implementing an integrated care model approach to the underserved population undergoing behavioral health related issues.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Program Director, the Peer Specialist will bring a unique perspective to the delivery of mental health services. The Peer Specialist will use lived experience to inspire hope, promote recovery, and empower individuals participating in Prestige’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to peer support principles and a passion for assisting others on their mental health journey.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize personal recovery experience to connect with and inspire individuals in the PHP.
  • Provide one-on-one peer support, sharing coping strategies, and offering encouragement in the recovery process.
  • Facilitate support groups and psychoeducational sessions, creating a safe and inclusive space for individuals to share experiences and learn from one another.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement engaging group activities.
  • Advocate for the rights and preferences of individuals in the PHP, ensuring their voices are heard in treatment planning and decision-making processes.
  • Assist clients in navigating the mental health system and accessing community resources.
  • Demonstrate recovery-oriented behaviors and attitudes, serving as a positive role model for clients and fostering a sense of hope and possibility.
  • Share personal stories of recovery to inspire and motivate others.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to contribute to individualized treatment plans.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate on the development of peer-led initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of peer support interactions and activities.
  • Provide input for progress notes and collaborate with the treatment team for comprehensive care planning.

Experience and Professional Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Lived experience with mental health challenges and recovery.
  • Completion of a certified peer support training program is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and uphold ethical standards.
  • Clean driving record and access to a reliable vehicle

Work Environment

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines.

Physical Demands

Position does involve local travel on a consistent basis.
