A North Shore based nonprofit seeks a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a strong Food is Medicine background to oversee our groundbreaking Medically Tailored Groceries Program and nutrition services in a diverse program environment.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Nutrition Services Manager is responsible for the full oversight of our Nutrition Department programs with a team of staff, volunteers, and interns to deliver robust nutrition outreach and education programs.

Position Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a small team of coordinators, seasonal interns, and volunteers.
- Oversee all Nutrition programs including:
- Medically Tailored Groceries, a 12-week program, with optional 8 week step down track, that provides customized ingredient boxes, Medical Nutrition Therapy, and workshops to food insecure clients with chronic health conditions
- Dish, an afterschool program on body image & healthy cooking
- On Your Mark food safety training, a youth development workforce program
- Emergency Food Bag Program, a program that provides shelf stable grocery bags to local health care partners and higher education institutions
- Provide nutrition counseling to clients and ongoing support to help them utilize the programs and services of the organization. Guide them toward healthy choices when selecting groceries through SmartChoice™
- Sit on various groups, including local school wellness committees, the Chamber of Commerce wellness committee, the State Nutrition Advisory Committee, FIMC clinical committee, FIMMA steering committee, FIMMA CBO taskforce, the North Shore Community College Nutritional Science and Diet Technology Advisory Council, and others
- Execute all aspects of Medically Tailored Groceries, including cultivating referral sources, recruiting participants, enrollment and data collection, designing diet types for specific health conditions, oversee packing of curated ingredient boxes, providing Medical Nutrition Therapy, and holding workshops.
- Provide menu planning, recipe scaling/standardization, and nutritional analysis as needed
- Create and conduct nutrition workshops and presentations for community partners
- Plan and conduct quarterly food and nutrition in-services for kitchen staff
- Assist food distribution programs with sensitivity to special diets (gluten free, dairy free, vegan) and culturally responsive foods, as needed
- Prepare virtual nutrition content and recorded workshops with communications department
- Develop educationally and culturally appropriate nutrition information that emphasizes disease management
- Ensure nutritional compliance with federal and state government feeding programs
- Cultivate a positive team oriented work environment for staff, volunteers and interns
- Lead as a role model to the Nutrition Team by maintaining high personal standards regarding positive attitude, timeliness, integrity, attendance, work ethic, and ready compliance with Organization policies and practices
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or related field and/or equivalent education/experience
- Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in the state of Massachusetts.
- ServSafe certified
- Prior experience as a dietitian in a high-volume production establishment a plus
- Familiarity with federal feeding programs (CACFP, FVP, SFSP, NSLP, Senior Meals)
- Sound knowledge of safety and food sanitation standards.
- Experience preparing a variety of medically tailored diets
- Enthusiasm for local and culturally responsive foods
- Demonstrated record of respect, compassion and trustworthiness.
- Ability to work effectively and communicate in written, verbal, presentation and listening formats within a multicultural environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, influence and control functional operations.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other departments in order to meet functional responsibilities to our clients.
- A valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and a clean driving history.
- The ability to successfully pass a Criminal Offender Records Inquiry (CORI) Background Check.
- Bi-lingual speaking ability (e.g. Spanish) is a plus
