We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our growing tax team to help drive this mission forward. As Senior Tax Manager, you will oversee business and individual tax client relationships; lead, manage, and develop the tax team and review their work; and collaborate with Accounting, Virtual CFO, and Disputes team members to create a holistic and strategic client experience.

Areas of Responsibility

• Conduct final review of tax returns and sign returns
• Consult with clients on proactive tax strategy and, when needed, resolve their complaints
• Coach, mentor, and manage a team of tax professionals
• Own tax team processes and KPIs

Activity Summary

Optimize team throughput and quality:

• Mentor, train, and coach team members to meet and exceed performance targets
• Hold team accountable to production targets, project statuses, and deadlines
• Develop and revise processes to optimize and streamline the tax preparation process
• Timely review tax returns and other deliverables for accuracy and alignment with established client tax strategy, savings opportunities, and compliance with tax law

Prioritize client experience:

• Maintain and strengthen strong client relationships by managing their expectations, consistently delivering value, and prioritizing both proactive and responsive communications
• Translate “tax code” into “business owner speak”
• Identify and operationalize areas where clients can save money on taxes 
• Work with team members to create and execute communication plans for clients
• Identify and offer additional client service opportunities (such as bookkeeping, virtual CFO, M&A due diligence)
• Work with clients to resolve complaints or quality issues
• Research and consult on complex tax matters and proactive solutions for clients

Continuous improvement :

• Identify and help execute on opportunities to improve team and client communication, processes, and collaboration
• Identify and implement technology that will improve efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications and Experience

• Licensed CPA or EA
• 5-10 years of relevant professional experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams and multiple projects and clients
• High proficiency with tax, accounting, and office software
• Extensive corporate/partnership/individual/multistate tax knowledge. RSU/employee stock, real estate, and trust experience a plus.
• Expertise in tax code, compliance and procedures with business clients
