Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Manager of WERC Membership & Chapters. This position is pivotal in overseeing the Warehouse Education and Research Council's membership program and ensuring the effective functioning of regional chapters within our organization. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting the Chapter Committee, implementing strategies to enhance member engagement and satisfaction, and managing individual and team membership recruitment and retention efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Chapters -

  • Operational Execution: Responsible for implementing strategies and plans devised by leadership, including facilitating chapter programming and developing new chapters.
  • Chapter Leader Supervision: Leads, trains, and supervises the Chapter Committee team to support individual chapters and ensure a strong relationship with volunteers. This includes facilitating conference calls and one in-person meeting at WERC’s Annual Conference.
  • Chapter Support: Works closely with the Chapter Committee to provide guidance, support, and resources to meet objectives, ensure compliance with WERC standards, and address any challenges.
  • Data Management: Collect and analyze data related to chapter performance, engagement, and key metrics to make recommendations for improvements and adjustments.
  • Communication: Facilitates communication between the Chapter committee, other committees, leadership, staff, or MHI when needed and ensures that chapters are informed about organization updates, policies, and relevant information.
  • Common Responsibilities:
    1. Handle daily chapter activities to meet all deadlines, including developing meeting announcements to market chapter events.
    2. Field chapter inquiries and resolve any issues.
    3. Provide needed items for Chapter events: rosters, speaker gifts, name badges, rosters, marketing materials, etc.
    4. Attend chapter meetings and events (3 – 4 per year) when possible.
    5. Cultivate new relationships and manage current relationships.

Membership -

  • Operational Focus: In collaboration with the Director, the Manager is responsible for implementing the strategies and plans set forth by the director, focusing on day-to-day membership operations.
  • Implementation: Executes the various elements of the membership program, which may include processing memberships, managing databases, handling inquiries, and overseeing the logistics of member events.
  • Team Supervision: Works with the Knowledge Center Coordinator to assign specific tasks, including training and setting deadlines for completion.
  • Data Management: Responsible for maintaining data related to members, keeping accurate records, analyzing membership data, and generating reports to inform decision-making.
  • Communication: Involved in direct communication with members, handling inquiries, providing support, and ensuring a positive member experience.
  • Execution of Programs: Responsible for executing membership programs and initiatives. This could include coordinating events, managing campaigns, and implementing strategies to achieve membership goals.
  • Common Responsibilities:
    • Maintain membership database and utilize the database to develop membership recruitment and retention reports.
    • Attend events and activities that serve as an opportunity to recruit members and/or strengthen members’ engagement with WERC and MHI.
    • Cultivate new relationships and manage current relationships.
    • Annually review all membership collateral, including print and email.

WERC - Products/Services -

  • Assists with aligning the product/service roadmap across departments to ensure that the product or service aligns with organizational goals and market needs.
  • Support the successful development and launch of new products or services by becoming a subject matter expert to provide exemplary customer service and make purchase recommendations when speaking to stakeholders.
  • Help ensure the quality of products or services, conduct testing, and address any issues related to produce or service quality.

Other Common Responsibilities (Chapters, Membership, Product/Services)

  • With the assistance of the IT team, help maintain related sections of the website.
  • Field phone calls and online requests for information.
  • Assist with budget development and work within budget guidelines.
  • Recognize member contributions.
  • Promote WERC’s products and services.
  • Perform assigned duties at the WERC Annual Conference, MHI Spring Meeting, MODEX/ProMat Tradeshow, and MHI Annual Conference when assigned.
  • May be called upon to assist with special projects.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality regarding member data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Understanding database operations and reporting systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of economic principles and antitrust regulations or the ability to learn concepts.
  • Strong record of project management and organizational skills.
  • Capable of quickly learning new processes, concepts, and software.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and proven effective communication ability.
  • Creativity, self-directed problem solving; able to see possibilities and opportunities from challenges and execute strategies (with support from teammates).
  • Proven experience in people management, leadership, and client relationship-building.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of experience in association membership and/or customer service.
  • Must be able to work in a Hybrid environment within Charlotte, NC, or Chicagoland area.
  • Domestic travel is required up to 20%, with 1% international.
