Raleigh, NC Area (Hybrid)

Salary Range: $95,000 to $116,250 per year, with potential flexibility based on experience

Terrific communications position with a research and public policy nonprofit in the Raleigh, NC area that is focused on improving education nationally. The Director of Media Relations and Communications position will be an integral member of the leadership team, managing the development and implementation of the organization's overall communications and brand strategy. This will include a focus on media relations, content development, media planning, social media management and other initiatives to grow their brand awareness. The position will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including the President and elected officials. This position will manage, mentor and train a team of four. Qualified candidates will have approximately 7+ years of relevant experience, including time in a management position. Candidates must have a track record of demonstrating creativity and innovation in their communications efforts. Political experience is a plus. The position is based in the Raleigh, NC area and operates on a hybrid schedule. The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $116,250 per year, with potential flexibility based on experience.

Responsibilities:

Elevate the organization's reputation through communications, media relations, and social media strategies
Craft content that appeals to the media and the public; serve as an external media contact as needed
Create and implement strategies, written press materials, briefings, media events, and other related content
Collaborate with and advise Leadership on various communications-related initiatives
Lead all media planning and social media efforts
Build a strong relationship with the media to ensure consistent media coverage
Manage and mentor a team of four
Ensure brand consistency in all marketing and communication content
Ability to travel as needed

Qualifications:

Approximately 7+ years of relevant experience, including management
Bachelor's degree
Passion for telling stories to grow brand awareness
Commitment to the mission of improving education
Strong network of media contacts and a track record of securing media placements
Exposure to working with elected officials is a plus
Experience with Cision is a plus
