Job Description
Job Title: Data Analytics & Operations Specialist
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15222 – Hybrid, mostly remote, must be local to Pittsburgh

Purpose:
This position is responsible for the analysis of company data and database systems in order to design, develop, and support custom reports for business units and external customers. Functions include planning, designing, coding, testing, and deploying of custom reports using Microsoft SSRS, Power BI, and other toolsets. This position also works with Data Engineers and Administrators to assist with application database support and/or escalate incidents when appropriate.

Essential Duties:

Support Services (60-70%)
• Assist Data & Analytics team with resolution of data issues across a suite of technologies as required to meet a 99% uptime SLA.
• Actively monitor and maintain Tier 2 Data & Analytics ticket support queue; updating, re-prioritizing, and escalating issues as required to maintain SLA.
• Provide technical assistance to end users, vendors, and business groups as required.
• Provide process automation support, gathering requirements, and promote requests to Tier 3 for development when ready.
• Develop, maintain, and support a large number of reports using MSSQL Reporting Services, Power BI and other toolsets.
• Manage multiple reporting requests in a deadline-driven, high-pressure environment.
• Analyze, evaluate and interpret data from key business systems.
• Responsible for maintaining regularly scheduled reports (daily, weekly, monthly) for internal/external customers.
• Ability to react to change quickly and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
• Assists users, business analysts, and vendors in troubleshooting business service problems and data inconsistency.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks.

Implementation Services (20-30%)
• Develop, model, and design data architecture solutions, integration, and access in collaboration with engineers, admins and other IT groups.
• Work with business analysts and data consumers to translate business requirements into data design.
• Work independently on moderate to complex projects serving as lead as well as working within a team environment throughout project implementation.
• Develop process automation solutions using Microsoft Power Automate
• Researches new technologies and presents recommendations and justifications on moderate to major hardware and software purchases.
• Complete reviews, upgrades, and replacements of current data analytical technology systems and products on a 3-5 year ongoing cycle.
• Implementation of changes as requested by business analysts and system owners for current application integrations and new application implementations.

Administration (10-15%)
• Lead, mentor, and/or provide guidance to data user community, where applicable, including guidance for troubleshooting and design.
• Work directly with supervisor to strategize and plan 3-5 year data services, capabilities, and self-goals.
• Assists with ongoing review and documentation of analytical data environment and remediation as needed to address technology gaps and improve support.

Other Duties:
•Promote analytics to the edge of our business focusing on data structure over visualizations.
• Help resolve data architectural disputes among architects, analysts, and/or development groups.
• Effectively communicate project status and ensure accuracy of project documentation.
• Timely submission of daily hours and status reports, salary calendars, and project documentation.
• Document and maintain access, processes, and operating methods.
• Draft support documentation (knowledge base articles).
• Attend and actively participate in team and department meetings.
• Participate in 24x7 support and on-call rotation as required; available by cell at all times.
• Assist and work on enterprise projects as required within IT organization.
• Schedule flexibility

Qualifications:
• 8-10+ years of hands-on experience with reporting development, management, support, and implementation in a Microsoft SQL environment.
• Education: Associates Degree in a technical discipline and/or 8+ years of industry experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline and 5+ years of industry experience.

Certification: Microsoft SQL MCSA preferred but not required
• High level of expertise in the following areas:
o Microsoft SSRS 2012/2016/2019 (SQL Server Reporting Services)
o Microsoft Power BI
o Microsoft Visual Studio and Report Builder
o Microsoft SQL Server (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019) administration
o Microsoft Power Automate
o Complex SQL query writing
o SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) and SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) administration
o Data backup and recovery techniques
o ETL/data transformation methods and implementation
o Data virtualization, analytics, and integration techniques
o Knowledge of multi-server, high availability RPO/RTO in a Microsoft SQL environment
o Data performance optimization
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills to make sense of unclear data and requirements
• Understanding/experience with cloud based integration services and providers is required.
o Microsoft Azure
o Snowflake
• High level of experience in a highly virtualized, converged datacenter environment is a requirement.
• High level of experience using service desk tools for ticket management (ServiceNow).
• Full understanding of Microsoft based desktop & server operating systems.
• High level of experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, and Project.
• Strong technical writing skills and good ability to speak to different audiences on their terms.
• Experience interacting with PostgreSQL, FoxPro, MySQL, and Microsoft Access preferred.
• Outstanding customer service and interaction skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing quality work. Operates effectively within the organizational structure and demonstrates the ability to work independently, perform well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Maintains a high level of technical skill by attending technical seminars, training courses, and completing certifications. Communicates this knowledge to others as required.
• Strong skill in providing technical training (one-on-one, small group or formal presentation)
