The successful candidate will have a strong command of the English language, exceptional writing and editing skills, and in-depth knowledge of grammar and punctuation rules. Summary:

Responsible for communicating the company's technical information in ways that are accessible, meaningful, compelling, and usable for employees and customers with diverse backgrounds and interests.

Essential Functions Under Supervision of Senior Editor:
  • Edit and develop content for technical reports, proposals, and marketing collateral for both print and digital media
  • Provide technical editing support to project managers, associates, and principals
  • Help create original content for social and other digital media (LinkedIn, e-blasts, website)
  • Assist creative teams with editing, writing, and administrative duties as needed
  • Obtain and catalog permissions for using photographs and other intellectual property rights
  • Help create, update, and maintain best practices documentation and guidelines
  • Ensure style standards are maintained and represent our brand at all times


Competencies:
  • Excellent editorial skills; a commitment to quality, accuracy, and detail
  • Strong language skills; marketing flair a plus
  • Skilled at communicating complex ideas in clear, concise, and compelling language
  • Able to multi-task efficiently and complete assignments accurately and on time
  • Strong time-management, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with APA style and comfortable working with in-house style guides
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; able to use Track Changes; experience with InDesign, Smartsheet, and/or video editing a plus
  • Experience using content management systems, including managing file and folder structures, storage, and permissions


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in English composition, journalism, communications, or related field
  • One to five years' editing experience; experience in the A&E industry, other consulting industries, or in municipal, city, state or federal governments preferred
  • Experience in the consulting industry and/or with proposal writing a plus
  • Applicants must submit a resume and 2-3 writing samples. Samples: 1) should reflect the candidate's ability to write for different audiences and media; 2) should be no more than 10 pages; 3) can be a complete work or an excerpt from a complete work. Excerpts should be labeled as such.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
