JOB TITLE: Educational Facilitator - Studio Facilitator


REPORTS TO: School/Program Director and/or Designee


CLASSIFICATION: Certificated/ Exempt

THE OPPORTUNITY (POSITION OVERVIEW)


Reporting to the School and/or Program Directors the Educational Facilitator (EF) is an innovator in the education field that inspires and supports all educational needs of TK-12 home study families assigned to them by facilitating an engaging and highly individualized education. As a point of contact and representative of the iLEAD home study program, the EF provides academic and operational support to the parents and learners. The Studio EF provides academic and operational support to the parents and learners.

WHAT YOU WILL DO (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)


Educational Facilitator

  • Oversee the academic, physical, extracurricular education by planning, implementing and instructing.

  • Conduct oneself in a confident manner so as to present oneself as the point of contact for assigned parents and learners of the independent study program.

  • Plan, develop, and organize, in collaboration with the learner/parent, an individual learning plan (ILP) for each learner, which incorporates the standards (including helping to research and determine which curriculum would be most beneficial to the learner’s educational objectives).

  • Meet in person or virtually with the learner at least every 20 days to: (a) assess and evaluate learner achievement and growth utilizing parent observations, body of work and learner work samples, (b) provide guidance and support to parents and learners, (c) discuss monthly learning/body of work and samples with each learner, (d) make any necessary adjustments or recommendations on teaching practices as needed per individual learner needs, and (e) regularly work one-on-one with a learner needing more support.

  • Collect learner work samples monthly after reviewing the body of work. Assign work through the ILP. Maintain required learner portfolios as outlined by guidelines.

  • Take attendance, confirm activity logs are saved and signed if needed, upload and/or maintain learning records and samples.

  • Award semester grades and progress reports in conjunction with parents.

  • Schedule additional communication or meetings as needed to meet the needs of the learner.

  • Respond to parent inquiries and concerns within (1) business day of contact.

  • Model teaching strategies, as needed, to help parents be more effective facilitators as well.

  • Help parents navigate the rules, policies, and procedures of the program, as well as the website(s) and any other computer systems they will be using.

  • Ensure that all learner needs are being met and, if needed, meet with the team members Lead Facilitator(s) or Regional Lead(s) of independent study for additional support.

  • Provide extra curriculum support to at-promise learners to fill learning gaps.

  • Engage in meaningful professional development activities on a regular basis to broaden knowledge in education, home study, independent study and charter schools.

  • Consistently provide information to staff and families on field studies, testing, orientations, workshops, or any other school events/gatherings.

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of high school graduation requirements and regularly participate in professional development pertaining to high school.

  • Attend and/or assist with all schoolwide, family and learner-related meetings (IEPs, EL, etc.) in various locations.

  • Attend required staff meetings including monthly pod meetings, all staff meetings, professional development and any other training(s) as necessary.

  • Proctor state mandated assessments (CAASPP, PFT, math placement, etc.) and ensure all learners on the EF’s roster have been tested. This may require additional days of proctoring makeup testing.

  • Proctor internal benchmark (MAP) testing and/or ensure all learners on their roster have completed any other applicable assessments (EL, SPED, etc.).

  • Perform any tasks needed for educational agencies for the purposes of WASC or data collection.

  • Adhere to California school law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Education policies and regulations, and school regulations and procedures.

  • Seek and provide support from colleagues on an ongoing basis.

  • Work collaboratively with all team members including enrollment, vendors, pod buddies, investment team members, leadership team, Director(s) and other iLEAD employees.

  • Meet deadlines given by Lead Facilitators, Investment Team Heads, Coordinators and/or Directors on projects and duties.

  • Participate and take initiative in the planning, organization and implementation of goals associated with investment teams so as to contribute to the overall betterment of the iLEAD independent study program.

  • Coordinate the dissemination of information and communication related to education, to homeschool organizations, local, district and community-wide parenting events.

  • Support the enrollment process and contact potential and new families to help with enrollment as needed.

  • Support in the ordering of materials and services confirming that families adhere to the ordering guidelines.

  • Report information in a timely manner regarding each learner’s attendance and learning, which includes submission of documentation concerning ADA, reports and audit portfolios.

  • Provide necessary paperwork, information and training to new families.

  • Meticulously manage instructional funds for each learner.

  • Order, deliver, and collect approved instructional materials and order services for learners as requested.

  • Act as a positive, confident representative of the iLEAD home study program at all times when interacting with parents, learners and vendors.

  • Navigate issues with parents, learners and vendors with grace and confidence, while maintaining proper documentation and follow-up on parent or learner related issues.

  • Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.

  • Maintain necessary teaching credentials.

  • Attend and assist in planning field studies, park days, info meetings, webinars, conventions as needed.

  • Complete other duties as defined by the Director(s) of the program or other school leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Communicating with others to exchange information. (In Person/Telephone/Computer)

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

  • When needed to support a school or education program, must have the ability to travel by public transit as well as operate a vehicle for self-transportation purposes between worksites.

  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

  • May encounter outdoor elements: high (>90)/low (<60) temperatures, precipitation and/or wind.

  • Ability to work in situations involving the need to make informed and quick decisions.

  • Ability to supervise/manage workers and delegate as needed in project management situations.

  • Reading detailed documentation and analyzing data sets.

  • Writing professionally, both by hand and utilizing computer software.

  • Speaking in public settings including making public presentations to large and small groups.

  • Dealing and navigating professionally through high-stress situations.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING (QUALIFICATIONS)


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Valid California Multiple Subject Credential or Single Subject Credential.

  • ELL Authorization - CLAD, BCLAD desirable.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in technology skills with the ability to learn and use online platforms, systems and software to support learning and record keeping.

  • Previous experience with homeschool or independent study programs preferred.

  • Demonstrate ability to perform tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrate standards of moral character and maintain a professional demeanor to serve as an effective role model for learners.

  • Exercise mature judgment in working with confidential information.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.

  • Work independently, be a self starter, problem solve and multi-task.

  • Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships with all learners, families and staff.

  • Exhibit an enthusiasm for learning and the belief that each learner can and will succeed.

  • Understand, recommend and support a variety of learning styles, philosophies, and approaches to better support the homeschool endeavor.

  • Ability to align and assign curriculum and activities with standards and to adopt grading practices that can be used authentically assess a learner’s progress.
