Scope of Position


This role will be responsible for leading a team in both Data & Analytics which is part of the Intelligence department and would have 2 direct reports to start (BI Developer & BI Analyst) and will be responsible for leading and coaching a team, taking high-level objectives & priorities, and disseminating the specific deliverables to the team while triaging which items this role should execute vs delegating various responsibilities.


Ideal candidate: This person should be someone who has a positive, infectious personality helping create a culture of collaboration while not sacrificing results. They need to be okay with getting in the weeds where needed, but also pushing the team to stretch and grow their capabilities. This role requires both an analytical mind and an eye for detail. To be successful in this role, they will need to be intellectually curious constantly questioning the way things are done constructively while thriving on change that improves results as our department is tasked with Continuous Improvement. This person should have proven experience in the ability of taking high-level OKRs, breaking each down into specific actionable deliverables determining effort and timeline to achieve each objective while not sacrificing overall integrity towards each OKR.


Overview of the Intelligence Department:


The Intelligence Department is tasked with the KSI of Continuous Improvement by leveraging both data and analytical tools to provide actionable insights to key stakeholders. It plays a critical support role to various other departments and works very closely with Technology, Finance, FP&A collaborating & coordinating where required. It also works cross-functionally with other departments as required such as Store Operations, Donations & Logistics, Marketing, People & Culture, Online, Wholesale, and Asset Management. This department currently consists of two main teams: Data & Analytics


These two teams work cross-functionally consistently to achieve business objectives and priorities.


Responsibilities


The DATA responsibilities include:

  • Ingress & Egress of Data (ETL, ELT, etc.) via Azure Data Factory (ADF) and other approaches as required.
  • Low-code app Design, Development, Testing, Rollout, & Maintenance through the use of Power Apps
  • Ensuring Data Integrity of existing and future systems
  • Regular optimization, organization, and automation of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd party data similar to a DBA role


The ANALYTICAL responsibilities include:

  • Design, Development, Testing, Rollout, & Maintenance of our current BI platform (Dundas).
  • Partnering with FP&A and other departments to help automate standardized reporting.
  • Assisting where needed in testing & rollout of internal & external applications.
  • Continuous leveraging, expansion, and improvement of various internal & external analytical tools.
  • Assist in coordinating RFI, RFP, and/or RFQ for systems and software as required to help ensure continuous improvement and consolidation of existing and future systems and software needs.
  • Partner with other stakeholders to help assist in automating various models including, but not limited to forecasting models.


Big projects in the 1st 12 months:

  • Lead in the training & development of the current team to help achieve both individual goals while balancing the needs of the organization.
  • Continuing to execute against our Data Optimization, Organization, & Automation (DOOA) project. Background: Our data hasnt been maintained in many years so this 1st initial push will allow us to get our data structure aligned with current business processes making the execution against App Dev, BI Dev, and/or Ad-Hoc requests much easier and efficient.
  • Help decide on and migrate to another BI tool, either Power BI or Tableau
  • Assist and lead in execution against deliverables to help push the organization along the Analytical maturity path by structuring our data in a way that is conducive to this, but also creating avenues for data accessibility to key stakeholders to help institute a culture of Citizen Data Scientists while balancing the management of cost, security risks, and value add to the organization.
  • Assist and lead in the execution of low-code app development to improve and expand our current offerings.


Qualifications


  • 5+ years of overall experience, including 3+ years in analytical roles and ideally some experience in managerial/leadership roles.
  • Effective leadership, influencing, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in prioritizing and managing multiple projects at one time.
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Proficient in the design & development of BI platforms (Ideally Power BI and/or Tableau). Certifications in either are a huge plus. Years of experience and proven proficiency are a great subsite as these platforms are constantly evolving.
  • Experience with low-code app development in platforms such as Power Apps or other similar platforms.
  • Experience with the Azure environment specifically Analytics & Databases.
  • Proficiency in the English language, verbal and written format.
