Job Description

Job Summary

This is an entry-level sales associate role working out of our Jefferson Hills office. As a Business Development Associate, you will report to the President of Clark Testing and work closely with the Business Development Manager. You will be responsible for developing relationships between Clark and customers that come in through existing in-bound sales channels, collecting requisite technical information for accurate quoting, and converting in-bound sales leads into quotes and revenue. You will also generate sales leads through an omnichannel sales & marketing approach, working closely with the CEO, President, VP of Marketing, and Business Development Manager, including, but not limited to: trade shows, customer visits, phone calls, email campaigns, direct mailer campaigns, and any other creative outreach ideas you can bring. Some chemistry and/or materials analysis knowledge will help you be successful in this role, but a willingness to ask questions and learn and comfort with ambiguity are crucial. The Business Development Associate will be aligned with our analytical chemistry and fuel & lubrication laboratory, but you may find opportunities for growth if you find success. You will also be expected to travel, likely less than 25% of a given month.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consistent sales activities via phone and email to generate new business for the company.
  • Open new business opportunities and develop relationships with target companies.
  • Make appointments and set up meetings to deliver presentations to prospective customers.
  • Increase the number of requests for quotes for testing services.
  • Work with technical staff to deliver customer quotes in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to ascertain testing needs and schedule.
  • Direct interaction with laboratory management and technicians to ensure projects are meeting customer expectations and requirements.
  • Manage company database logging calls, emails, requests for quote, and quotes.
  • Optimize the customer experience every time they might interact with Clark.

Qualifications & Competency Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED is required.
  • A basic understanding of chemistry, testing, materials analysis, or chemical engineering.
  • Sales driven work ethic to prospect and close new business.
  • Proven time management and organizational skills.
  • Passion for customer service and customer satisfaction.
  • A willingness to learn about testing methods and standards and general chemistry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to successfully complete background checks and drug tests.
  • Curiosity, team-first mentality, and a bias toward communication

This is a professional, Exempt position that offers a base salary and eligibility to participate in the company’s subjective bonus/incentive program.
