PrePass Safety Alliance, the provider of the PrePass program, is a non-profit public-private partnership of state agencies and trucking industry leaders devoted to the safe, secure, and efficient use of North America's highway system. Through widespread deployment of PrePass advanced technologies, the Alliance works to increase regulatory compliance in commercial vehicle operations while saving motor carriers time, fuel, and money. PrePass LLC, an Alliance subsidiary, is the operational entity for the PrePass program. To date, the Alliance has invested over $1 billion in services that improve safety, reduce truck-related emissions, and preserve highway infrastructure.

The Strategic Communications Writer will be a fantastic multi-tasker who can balance pre-scheduled assignments with incoming content and RFP requests. You will be responsible for producing a wide variety of content for both print and digital mediums - including blog posts, presentations, white papers, sales proposals, RFPs, press releases, and processes. You will develop an excellent grasp of the PrePass Safety Alliance brand voice and how to adjust that voice for different audiences. This role requires a high level of creativity mixed with strategic intent, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Through your writing, the Strategic Communications Writer will further the Alliance nonprofit mission to improve safety and efficiency on America's highways and the Communications team's overarching goals of increasing brand awareness, growing Alliance state partners, and increasing trucking industry clients.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with the Communications and Sales teams, and external influencers and industry experts to produce relevant content that meets the needs of key stakeholders and our audiences.
  • Building custom RFP narratives and sales proposals which include writing RFP and sales responses and collaborating with the creative team to produce the final deliverable.
  • Identify innovative ways for improving the efficiency of the RFP/proposal process.
  • Assist in RFP analysis, development and review of execution strategy, identification of proposal requirements, writing, proofing and production
  • Develop thorough knowledge of PrePass Safety Alliance, its products, and industry.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure deadline and requirements for each RFP and proporal are met.
  • Create 1-2 blog posts each month that address our various audiences to educate on Alliance issues, increase brand awareness, and drive engagement on our social media platforms.
  • Create 1 press release each month to promote the Alliance brand, awards and recognition, and other noteworthy organizational events.
  • Respond to roughly one federal, state or motor carrier 1 RFP per quarter.
  • Write 1 white paper per quarter.
  • Create presentation and proposal templates for various Alliance audiences.
  • Maintain a content library on the Alliance and its products and services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent,

Requirements

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Editorial mindset with an ability to spot/predict audience preferences.
  • Hands-on experience writing for RFP responses, sales proposals, blogs, and informational documents (white papers or processes).
  • The ability to manage the priorities of multiple stakeholders in a complex environment.
  • Ability to think creatively and brainstorm with both creative and non-creative managers.
  • Ability to take initiative and tackle projects with direction from the VP of Communications.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress is a plus.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • Three to five years experience writing compelling content for sales, marketing, or news.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Marketing, or Communications.
  • Knowledge of AP style.
  • Excellent time and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and shift workload to meet deadlines.
  • Trucking industry experience preferred.
  • Writing for product marketing, ABM, and/or technical writing experience a plus.
