Job Description

Frontera Health is developing a tech-enabled platform to provide pediatric therapies for rural families in need. Our platform leverages AI/ML to establish the foundational video-based data model for early intervention and developmental disorders. By working with parents and caregivers in rural communities, we aim to increase access to care, improve health equity, and deliver personalized treatment for better outcomes.

Frontera is led by a world-class leadership team, well capitalized and backed by premier investors (Lightspeed and Lux), and already have 500+ clients eagerly awaiting our services. As Frontera continues to scale, we will continue to expand services and product offerings to better serve the families and providers in our communities.

Frontera Health is on a mission to make cutting-edge pediatric therapies accessible to families in need, bridging the gap in rural healthcare. As our Founding Finance & Accounting Leader, you'll be the architect of our financial success, crafting and scaling our infrastructure from the ground up.

Craft the Blueprint:

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across all accounting and finance functions, including multi-state billing processes.
  • Lead the monthly close, driving a timely, precise financial reporting process, mastering journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Build the foundation, establishing the department's strategic direction from scratch, encompassing billing, financial statements, payroll, and more, with specialization in multi-state compliance.
  • Embrace technology, implementing and automating key systems - accounting, cash management, forecasting - you'll be the expert, ensuring smooth integration with multi-state billing requirements.
  • Forge partnerships, building strong, collaborative relationships with business teams to create scalable processes and best practices, factoring in multi-state complexities.

Budgeting Mastermind & Audit Champion:

  • Co-lead the annual budgeting cycle and ongoing review and reforecast, partnering with execs to build and maintain Frontera Health's financial models, considering multi-state financial impacts.
  • Lead audits across all entities, ensuring compliance and driving continuous process improvement, with a focus on multi-state regulations.

Treasury & Banking Navigator, Capitalization Table Guru:

  • Manage treasury and banking relationships, guaranteeing adherence to investment and cash policies, while navigating multi-state financial obligations.
  • Own employee stock options, 409A valuations, and other stock administration functions, ensuring compliance with multi-state regulations.

Who You Are:

  • Accounting or finance degree holder with 5+ years of Controller experience in a startup environment, preferably with experience in multi-state accounting and billing.
  • GAAP and accounting principles expert, with a deep understanding of multi-state tax and compliance regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage and oversee multiple accounting functions, including multi-state billing processes.
  • Analytical powerhouse with exceptional problem-solving skills, particularly in navigating multi-state financial challenges.
  • Communication and presentation maestro, able to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Systems guru with implementation and change management experience, skilled in integrating multi-state billing solutions.
  • Thrives on process improvement and innovation, eager to optimize multi-state billing procedures.
  • Detail-oriented with a knack for meeting deadlines, even amidst complexities of multi-state operations.
  • Adaptable problem-solver with a can-do attitude, ready to tackle multi-state financial challenges head-on.
  • Healthcare experience required; ABA/pediatric behavioral health experience a huge plus.

Bonus Points:

  • Building financial models is your superpower.
  • Venture accounting and financing are your playground.
  • Spanish fluency would be highly beneficial for navigating multi-state operations.
