TITLE: Financial and Balance Sheet Analytics Specialist

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

FLSA: Non-Exempt

CATEGORY: Full Time

SHIFT: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm

SUMMARY

The Financial and Balance Sheet Analytics Specialist reports to the Chief Financial Officer, performing analysis and preparing reports to provide management with financial data and recommendations for use in setting and realizing profit objectives. This position utilizes accounting and financial principles as well as advanced spreadsheet management tools and techniques to design and maintain internal data models and calculations. The workflow for this position operates on a project-by-project basis, necessitating initiative, flexibility, and creativity in the approach to day-to-day work activities. This position assumes responsibility and is accountable for adherence to Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to banking. This is an in-office position, however, may allow some interspersed work from home capability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  1. Operates computer terminal or personal computer to research and compile various reports using database queries and other resources such as spreadsheets.
  2. Assumes responsibility for special projects; gathers data and prepares reports for management, audits, and other personnel.
  3. Assists the Chief Financial Officer in the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial reports by compiling and organizing large data sets.
  4. Create and maintain mathematical models using both internal and external data to forecast and review the Bank’s financial position.
  5. Create and update investor presentation data and display charts.
  6. Maintain Bank mathematical models and reports for colleague incentive and benefit compensation plans.
  7. Ensures all related paper file systems are maintained so that necessary documents can be found easily, and documentation is consistent and complete.
  8. Any other duties as defined by management.
SECONDARY DUTIES
  1. Assumes responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members or in overload situations.
  2. Completes assigned Compliance Training. Maintains Compliance with the Bank’s BSA/AML policies and procedures.

  2. Knowledgeable with basic accounting principles, financial statements, and ratios.
  3. Comfortable with designing complex systems within Microsoft Excel, including use of VBA programming.

  11. Any other duties as defined by management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.
  1. A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work-related experience should consist of a minimum of two years of accounting or finance. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or related curriculum, should be applicable to finance or accounting.
  2. Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, speak clearly to customers, employees, directors and shareholders.
  3. Advanced computer operation skills; email, word processing, spreadsheet, and specialty software programs.
  4. Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  5. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  6. Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  7. Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  8. Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties and to handle confidential information with discretion.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Repetitive use of hands such as grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity necessary to perform various clerical duties such as typing, writing and maintaining files.
  2. Frequent use of arms such as pushing/pulling to open and close drawers and cabinets.
  3. Ability to sit for extended periods of time at assigned station.
  4. Ability to bend and/or reach, and to occasionally lift and carry up to 30 - 50 pounds (boxes of copy paper and/or files for storage).
  5. Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for normal processing of work.
