This position coordinates one or more functions within Fund Development such as grant writing, communications, donor relations, fundraising events at all WVS locations, data management, developing/sending mass mailings, coordinating placement of advertising, acknowledging gifts and donations, developing effective working relationships with donors, foundation representative and others to nurture their connection to WVS.

The purpose of this job description is to serve as a guide by which you and the management of Washington Vocational Services measure your progress and ability to meet our commitment.

The following should be considered an outline of the responsibilities and duties as an employee of Washington Vocational Services and not a detailed description of how all tasks should be completed.

Fundraising and Grant Writing

  • Develop, conduct, and monitor corporate fundraising strategies and/or programs, which support WVS’s Mission and Goals.
  • Research grant opportunities which match the goals and objectives of WVS.
  • Write/Coordinate grant proposals for government, corporate and foundation grants.
  • Develops strategies and action plans for review by senior leadership and executes against same.
  • Develops and maintains effective, long-term working relationships with grant providers to facilitate approval of grants.
  • Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions, to include media transmissions to employees, business organizations & other potential donors.
  • Recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events.
  • Compile or develop materials to submit to potential donors and business organizations. Create strong fundraising messages that appeal to potential donors.
  • Develop and maintain media lists of contacts, inclusive of employees, business organizations & other potential donors.
  • Coordinate and oversee volunteer teams for various projects supporting organizational needs and liaise with staff supporting fundraising efforts.
  • Ensure that all legal reporting requirements are satisfied.
  • Assists with creation of the Agency Annual Report and Annual Program Outcome Reports with gathering, analyzing, and formatting data for internal and external distribution.
  • Collaborates with the marketing team to align fundraising strategies with marketing initiatives, utilizing social media platforms to promote events and campaigns effectively.
  • Partner with outside agencies and internal marketing team to enhance WVS’ advocacy and outreach efforts.
  • Follows up with grantors to determine/monitor grant status.


Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of fundraising/grant writing experience in a non-profit.
  • Demonstrate a mature, professional attitude, demeanor and exhibit strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under general supervision, exercising independent judgement within specific scope of responsibility.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Possess good listening skills and self-awareness to present a positive professional image on behalf of the Agency internally and externally.
  • Ability to pass Washington State Background check and cyclical DSHS background checks as required.
  • Possess and maintain current Driver’s license and retain auto insurance as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, able to convey information effectively.
  • Self-motivated and Independent worker, punctual and reliable, positive attitude, able to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent knowledge of fundraising concepts and WVS goals.
  • Able to work in an environment that operates at a very high level of energy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must be able to work at computer or desk area for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds, crouching and reaching.
  • Must be able and willing to drive to WVS offices: Seattle, Everett, Burlington and Bellingham.
  • Environment is well lit with a low to moderate noise level.
