About The Role

For the next phase of its evolution, Motor1 is seeking an experienced Social Media and Audience Editor to help lead growth across multiple platforms and channels. Reporting to Motor1’s Executive Editor, this editor will be a savvy journalist at heart with a keen eye for what audiences care about and how to meet them where they are.

This editor will be tasked with growing Motor1’s social media channels with the goal of increasing the site’s audience; spearheading and managing new and renewed initiatives like newsletters and Instagram; experimenting with platforms like Instagram and TikTok; packaging stories to run across multiple channels; scouring social media platforms for story leads; and assisting the publication’s editors with a variety of other tasks.

The Social Media and Audience Editor will help ensure Motor1 is growing across many platforms and not dependent on just one of them, while staying ahead of the curve with new and unique ways to tell stories. They must be a knowledgeable and passionate car enthusiast that understands the future of transportation, technology and more—and is equally passionate about helping consumers and new audiences understand those topics.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

–Several years of experience managing social media accounts, ideally in the automotive space

–An understanding of the enthusiast and consumer car market and the quickly changing nature of automotive technology

–A proven track record of social media brand-building, success and growth

–Strong news instincts and journalistic skills (though a journalism degree is not required)

–A spirit of teamwork, a desire to outpace the competition, and a passion for informing and empowering audiences

–Comfort working with a small but growing team in a startup-like environment

Compensation

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $65,000 - $80,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The compensation package also includes the medical, dental, and vision as well as an unlimited PTO plan a 401(k) with employer match.
