Sunstone Therapies is the leader in the delivery of psychedelic-assisted therapy in the medical setting, focusing on the development and implementation of clinical trials today, and moving towards clinical delivery if and when therapies are approved. Right now, we have one site with roughly 30 employees (not including trainee therapists)-- looking to build our team and expand to 2 more sites in the next 2 years. Sunstone Therapies is working to accelerate the on-the-ground learning and operations necessary to approve and scale psychedelic therapies in the medical setting. Sunstone is a leader in addressing the mental health of cancer patients and their caregivers through psychedelic therapies. In service to Sunstone’s vision of Whole Person Healing for All, this position plays a role in Sunstone’s ability to deliver on its vision with Love and Rigor. To be successful in this role in this growth stage start-up, the candidate must be a detail-oriented self-starter and problem solver, be able to shift projects and priorities rapidly to meet emerging needs, and approach the work with the values of love and rigor, which are essential to the Sunstone culture.

Scope: The Center Director will play a crucial role in the efficient management and operations of our center in Rockville, MD. The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare administration, with a preference for candidates with experience in, or understanding of, a clinical research setting. The Center Director will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day administrative functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and facilitating the integration of clinical research activities into the overall operational framework.

Job activities include but are not limited to:

  1. Operational Management:
    1. Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency and quality patient care.
    2. Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize workflow and enhance patient experience.
    3. Collaborate with healthcare providers to streamline clinical processes.
  2. Center Project Management
    1. Lead and coordinate multiple clinical projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
    2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including clinicians, researchers, and administrative staff, to define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables.
    3. Develop and implement project plans, outlining tasks, timelines, resource requirements, and milestones.
  3. Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
    1. Stay abreast of industry regulations and ensure facility compliance with healthcare laws and standards.
    2. Facilitate audits and inspections to maintain accreditation and uphold regulatory requirements.
  4. Credentialing
    1. Oversee the credentialing process for healthcare providers, ensuring timely and accurate completion of credentialing applications.
    2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credentialing requirements and standards set by relevant accreditation bodies and regulatory agencies.
  5. Financial Management:
    1. Manage the budget, monitor expenses, and implement cost-effective measures.
    2. Collaborate with finance and billing departments to optimize revenue cycle management.
  6. Human Resources:
    1. Recruit, train, and supervise administrative staff.
    2. Foster a positive work environment and address employee concerns.
    3. Conduct performance evaluations and implement professional development initiatives.
  7. Clinical Research Integration:
    1. Work closely with clinical research teams to seamlessly integrate research activities into daily operations.
    2. Coordinate with principal investigators and research coordinators to ensure protocol adherence and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills, experience and competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare administration, with a focus on outpatient facilities.
  • Preferred experience in a clinical research setting.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in healthcare management software and Microsoft Office suite.
