Interventional Radiology Specialistis responsible for the performance of exceptional quality routine and specialized interventional radiographic procedures at the request of licensed independent practitioners for interpretation by radiologists. The Specialist is a liaison between patients, radiologists, and other members of the support team. The Specialist integrates scientific knowledge; technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care resulting in diagnostic information, and recognizes patient conditions essential for the successful completion of the procedure.Interventional Radiographers must maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure techniques.They must possess, utilize, maintain, and enhance knowledge of radiation safety and protection for themselves, patients, and others.The Interventional Radiographer prepares, administers, and documents activities related to mediation by state regulations and institutional policy. The Specialist must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. The Specialists must think critically, and use independent, professional, and ethical judgment in all aspects of their work, and they must engage in continuing education to include their area of practice to enhance patient care, public education, knowledge, and technical competence. They are responsible for patient care, appropriate documentation, quality control, and quality improvement, and they provide training, education, and mentoring to students, technologists, nurses, residents, fellows, staff, and others. They must remain sensitive to the needs of the patient through good communication, and exceptional patient care skills.As members of the health care team, they must participate in quality improvement processes and continually assess their professional performance. Maintains a safe and hazard-free environment.



Job Responsibilities:

  • Check room daily for adequate stock necessary to facilitate continuous exam flow
  • Maintains appropriate inventory as indicated by posted par levels and updates supply lists when items are needed.
  • Confirms patient identity with approved identifiers.
  • Demonstrating population-appropriate care with all patients, and appropriately preparing patients for procedures.
  • Verifies patient’s pregnancy and informed consent statuses.
  • Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medication contraindications, patient risk for reaction to medications, patient history, laboratory results, insufficient patient preparation, or artifacts.
  • Based on the order, determine the type and dose of contrast agent to be administered based on the patient’s age, weight, and medical/physical status.
  • Anticipates and responds to patients' needs throughout the entire encounter. Reaches out to others as needed.




Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma – Required
  • Required- Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program
  • Required- R-ARRT - ARRT RegTech RadiographyAmerican Registry of Radiology Technologists
  • Required-CMRT - Cert Med Radiologic Techngst Texas Medical Board.
  • Required- 3 years Radiology experience (any/all modalities)
  • INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY or Cath lab experiences a MUST
  • RT with INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY or Cath lab experiences a MUST
  • Knowledge of Radiology physics and procedures; understanding of Radiology principles that are developmentally appropriate for ages 0 – adulthood.
  • Operation of all required equipment including troubleshooting when necessary of the equipment, including automated processors, copying/digitizing film equipment, R.I.S., and PACS.
  • Basic life support and medical terminology understanding is required.
  • Successful demonstration of the professional fundamental competencies.
  • Must be articulate, courteous, and supportive in dealing with patients, parents, nursing, faculty, administrative, and departmental personnel so that excellent customer service and positive guest relations are achieved.
  • Must honor confidentiality
  • Must independently scan patients by following the established protocols
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills
  • Must utilize basic office equipment; such as fax
  • Preferable if able to demonstrate bilingual skills.



Job Details:

  • Schedule: Day Shift
  • Starting at $54/hr. (based on experience) + benefits.
  • Full benefits – healthcare, dental, vision, 401k program.
