Serenity Recovery Connection (SRC) is excited to announce, after a six-month review of its growth projections and financial opportunities, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position is being reposted to capture potential candidates who have the experience and passion to continue the momentum of current growth while navigating new funding streams for optimal program expansion.  SRC is a dynamic, growing, and accredited Recovery Community Organization (RCO) dedicated to supporting individuals and families in the Pikes Peak region on their journey to recovery from substance use disorders (SUD).  SRC is positioned to substantially increase its financial capacity in the coming year(s), as a cohort member of Stand Together Foundation and recent recipient Opioid Settlement Funding.  


We are seeking an innovative and visionary leader with a passion for driving social change and fostering community engagement within the realm of SUD recovery.  The ideal CEO candidate (residing in Colorado) will demonstrate strong strategic leadership approaches, experience growing a nonprofit, exceptional communication skills which includes presenting to large groups and building relationships throughout a community.  This is an exciting opportunity to promote long-term recovery and reduce the stigma associated with addiction while leading a strong and committed staff. 


SRC’s CEO is the primary leader of a four-person leadership team, responsible for administration, operations, programs, financial oversight, and strategic planning.  In addition to oversight of 35 employees, guide leadership in prioritizing new positions and reorganization critical to sustaining growth. Key areas and qualifications required of this position are (but not limited to): 


  • Collaborating with the Board of Directors (BOD) to co-create the organization’s vision, strategic plans, fiscal management, and providing guidance for policy development and oversight. 
  • Financial expertise in the areas of:  budget development and management,  
    maximizing the highest and best use of the company-owned real estate, research funding sources, grants, contracts, financial reporting, compliance with taxation regulations and audit preparations, and annual fundraising event planning. 
  • Experience stewarding significant increase in financial resources for thoughtful growth in programming, personnel and community partnerships. 
  • Ability to utilize and position the use of its $2.2 million unencumbered asset. Increase use and expand commercial building potential to support growth. 
  • Possesses a broad knowledge of state Behavioral Health Association focus areas and funding stream. 
  • Experience in building staff infrastructure to support overall programs and healthy workload responsibilities distribution. 
  • Ability to sustain an organizational culture of compassion, inclusion and equity related to staff and participants. 
  • Leadership transparency while assessing problem situations to identify causes, gathers information to generate immediate action with recommended solutions.  
  • Building relationships within community at large and partner organizations. 
  • Demonstrate skills at navigating the complexities of working with government at the local, state, and national and federal levels to achieve sustained funding, improve policies to support the mission of SRC, and continue to be recognized as a competent resource for knowledge in the field of SUD. 
  • Proven ability to build, foster and maintain strong donor relationships. 
  • Strong direct leadership skills in the areas of evaluating and elevating performance through leadership development, succession planning while ensuring adherence to the organization’s principles and peer-run agency standards. 
  • Understanding of the importance of a peer participatory process. 


Required qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services, behavioral health, business administration, or related field 
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred 
  • Minimum of five years successful progressive management in the nonprofit sector 
  • May be a person with lived experience with substance use disorder or be a family member in recovery from having been directly affected by substance use disorder.  If the applicant has direct lived experience, they must have sustained recovery of six (6) years.
