Job Description

POSITION TITLE: DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNITY RELATIONS ASSOCIATE

DEPARTMENT: DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNITY RELATIONS

REPORTS: DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNITY RELATIONS

CLASSIFICATION: NON EXEMPT, FULL-TIME

Reporting to the Director of Development & Community Relations, the Development & Community Associate will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission, building relationships with stakeholders, and enhancing our brand presence. The Development and Community Relations Associate will report to the Development and Community Relations Director and work closely with cross-functional programs and teams to achieve our organizational goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Development:

• Assist in the planning, implementation, and management of fundraising campaigns and initiatives.

• Research and identify potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities.

• Support the development of grant proposals, sponsorship packages, and fundraising materials.

• Maintain donor databases and records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.

• Contribute to donor stewardship efforts, including acknowledgment letters and communications.

• Assist in organizing fundraising events and activities, coordinating logistics and promotions.

• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of donations and contributions.

Communications:

• Manage and maintain the organization's digital and social media presence.

• Create engaging content for social media platforms, newsletters, and websites.

• Coordinate the production of marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and promotional videos.

• Monitor media coverage and industry trends relevant to the organization's mission.

• Direct media inquiries to the Development and Communications Director.

• Cultivate relationships with community partners and media outlets, as well as manage media distribution lists.

• Assist in developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance the organization's visibility and brand awareness.

• Collaborate with various teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications.

Volunteering:

• Recruit and onboard volunteers, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission.

• Schedule and coordinate volunteer activities based on organizational needs.

• Provide training and support to equip volunteers with necessary skills.

• Engage and recognize volunteers to foster a positive and inclusive culture.

• Evaluate volunteer performance and address any issues professionally.

• Collaborate with departments to meet volunteer needs and goals.

• Manage volunteer data and generate regular reports.

• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and legal requirements.

General:

• Support the development and implementation of overall organizational strategies.

• Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals and objectives.

• Attend meetings, take minutes, and provide follow-up on action items.

• Assist in preparing reports and presentations for stakeholders and board members.

• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in development, communications, and volunteering.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, or a related field.

• Proven experience in development, fundraising, or communications within a nonprofit or similar environment is preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling messages.

• Proficiency in using social media platforms and content management systems.

• Experience in coordinating events and managing logistics is a plus.

• Familiarity with donor databases and CRM systems is an advantage.

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

• A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• A passion for the organization's mission and commitment to making a positive impact.
