Salary: $19.47-$20.61

Qualifications:
1. Preferences: (in order of preference).
i. Early Childhood Development (bachelor’s degree)
ii. Early Childhood Development (Associate Degree)
2. Must be able to handle confidential information.
3. Must pass pre-employment drug test.
4. Must be familiar with community resources.
5. Be able to lift 40 pounds, stop and bend to speak with children at their level. Be patient and
caring.
6. Must be insurable under the agency’s insurance policy.
7. Must provide the agency with a copy of his/her personal vehicle insurance verification.
8. Must give Ross County CAC permission to obtain Motor Vehicle Record.
9. Must adhere to all agency safety policies and procedures; training will be documented in
personnel file.
10. Complete pre-employment physical, TB test, and drug screening; complete BCI and FBI
background review; background check for children abuse and sex offender registry.


Job Description:
1. Develop and post daily lesson plan for the center, implement daily schedules and plans for the day,
including outside activities when weather permits
2. Supervise the safety of all infants and toddlers in the center
3. Personally, report any suspected child abuse or neglect to Children’s Services, after
reporting inform supervisor and complete internal paperwork.
4. Use discretion with other professionals in keeping children’s information confidential.
5. Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies for the center and requesting the aforementioned
when needed
6. Support emerging literacy and numeric development
7. Interact positively with infants and toddlers to promote many developmental skills.
8. Conduct two (2) Parent- Teacher Conferences per year.
9. Conduct two (2) Educational Home Visits per year lasting 1 to 1 ½ hours per visit; provide educational
plan to document each visit.
10. Screen each infant and toddler within 45 days of enrollment, using the current screening tool.
11. Assess each infant and toddler using Teaching Strategies Gold three times per year maintaining
records and updating as needed.
12. Implement the IFSP goals as determined by the IFSP Team.
13. Assist in organization of transition to preschool activities, including completion of individual child
profile.
14. Maintain, along with other staff, the center in a clean and orderly manner.
15. Work cooperatively with all Early Head Start Staff and maintain a positive attitude.
16. Possess a thorough knowledge of center rules.
17. Keep a daily attendance log keeping in mind that at least 85% attendance shall be kept at all times.
Each absence will be documented specifically as to reason for the absence. Assist in contacting
parents of an infant or toddler who misses three days of school.
18. Conduct daily checks of children in accordance with ODE Regulations to ensure children are free from
communicable diseases. Alert the Health & Nutrition Manager if a communicable disease is suspected
in the classroom.
19. Distribute information to families, keeping communication open at all times.
20. Organize and plan activities to encourage and involve parents in becoming effective participants in
their infant and/or toddler’s developmental growth.
21. Maintain detailed records, including diaper changes, meals, and sleeping times and inform parents of
this through daily reports.
22. Assist in ensuring completion of physical, immunizations and dental, and completion of follow-up
treatment.
23. Alert the EHS Child & Family Advocate of social service needs of families.
24. Assist with the recruitment and enrollment process for Early Head Start.
25. Assist with the implementation of food service as required by CACFP, Head Start
Performance Standards and local health regulations. Duties include, but are not limited to,
serving meals and formula, maintaining accurate attendance and meal counts, monitoring
special diets, and obtaining CACFP Enrollment Forms.
26. Perform all job duties to ensure program will remain in compliance with all Federal Head Start
Performance Standards, Department of Education Rules and Regulations and Department of Job &
Family Services Regulations.
27. At the discretion of the Education Manager and/or the Early Childhood Director, the teacher shall
attend meetings, seminars, trainings, and conferences and shall share that information with other
staff.
