Term: Full-Time

Location: Remote in the U.S.

Compensation: $120,000 base salary, plus commission ($50k target)

Travel: 50%


Climate change mitigation requires massive clean energy expansion, yet 77 percent of American households cannot install rooftop solar power due to rented housing, the structure of their rooftop, the upfront cost, or lack of access to financing. Solstice connects households, businesses and community organizations to “community solar”—shared solar farms that are installed in a centralized location where local residents can enroll in a portion for free, without any home installations, and enjoy guaranteed savings on their monthly utility bill.

Position Overview: 

With surging demand for renewable energy, Solstice is rapidly scaling. As such, we are seeking a detail-oriented, driven, energetic, efficient, reliable, and highly organized Senior Business Development Manager who can immediately add value and help the company increase its growth rapidly by securing contracts for our services with community solar developers. The ideal candidate is organized, ambitious, mission-driven and a team player who has existing relationships with community solar asset owners and developers. This person will be responsible for pitching in person and virtually, closing deals and supporting contracting. 


The ideal candidate has extensive experience in the clean energy space, specifically DG solar, is goal and results oriented, while fostering a people-first mentality with a high level of emotional intelligence.


Responsibilities:

  • Grow Solstice’s revenue by securing contracts with new developer accounts and in new markets 
  • Build and maintain relationships with community solar developers, asset owners and financiers in need of subscriber services
  • Represent Solstice remotely and in person in sales calls, pitches and at trade shows
  • Follow through on long sales cycles, identifying decision makers, influencers and champions, ensuring opportunities continue to move forward 
  • Collaborate with Asset Management team in selling to existing clients
  • In coordination with the Marketing team, respond to RFPs
  • In coordination with the Revenue team, support ongoing pricing strategy and discussions 
  • Understand and communicate community solar subscriber rules, regulations and market developments, collaborating with our Policy team and by leveraging our membership in trade organizations
  • Assist in securing RECs from developers for our corporate clients fulfilling their ESG needs
  • Track activities and maintain CRM to a high standard
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of successful B2B sales or business development experience
  • Deep energy market experience and contacts, ideally in the community solar industry
  • Track record of achieving quotas, targets and goals
  • Experience building relationships with C-level executives (or equivalents) and navigating enterprise level decision-making landscapes
  • Success in driving long, complex sales cycles to closure and overcoming objections
  • Networking capabilities across and up organizations to create relationships and leverage points
  • Success in navigating cross-functional programs and communicating with varied stakeholders both internally and externally
  • A problem solver, equally excited about the opportunity to solve small problems and big problems as long as they serve a larger mission 
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and team-oriented; always willing to lend a hand to a team member
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced, growing startup environment and happy to support or adapt to improving processes
  • Driven, gritty, and resilient; demonstrated ability to persevere through unanticipated challenges
  • Experience with a CRM, ideally Salesforce, as well as PowerPoint/Google Sheets, Excel/Google Spreadsheets   
  • Ability to travel - 50%
