Job Description

Job Title: Finance Controller (Director - Accounting)

Reports to: SVP – Accounting and Tax

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Position Overview

The Finance controller (Director - Accounting) will be responsible for overseeing the accounting functions for multiple US entities within our organization and reporting directly to the SVP who is head of accounting and tax. This person will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial data, financial controls and providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth and profitability. Additionally, the Finance Controller will oversee the sales tax process including for new business initiatives and will have responsibilities for tax compliance. The position also includes responsibilities over ERP enhancement and streamlining processes to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations for multiple entities, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee a team of 10 persons.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements. Support FP&A team for budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to provide insights into business performance.
  • Improve internal controls and processes in line with Group policies to safeguard company assets, mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the sales tax process for new business initiatives, including researching tax implications, coordinating with external advisors, and ensuring compliance with sales tax regulations.
  • Support the development and optimization of our ERP system and processes to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and improve data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis and performance evaluations to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with other leaders in the organization to create, evaluate, track and report financial goals/outcomes.

Your Key Qualities and Skills

  • 10+ years of comprehensive experience in progressive finance/accounting.
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Business, Financial Management or related field.
  • High level of curiosity and ease in working in a complex and rapidly evolving environment.
  • Abilitiy to manage short and long term projects from inception to implementation.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent business acumen, fine attention to detail.
  • Ability to build business relationships with strong negotiation and influencing skills as well as adaptability to different cultures.
  • Advanced Excel user.
  • ERP & CRM experience (AX-365).
  • Solid understanding of accounting (GAAP or IFRS knowledge an asset).
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in software/security technology industry a plus.
    • Public accounting a plus.
    • CPA/CMA a plus.
