Marketing Associate

**NOTE: only applicants currently living in Los Angeles should apply. This is NOT a remote position and will require full-time onsite presence in Van Nuys, CA.

Seeking a marketing associate to plan and oversee social media and content projects while in communication with the marketing and data analysis team in India. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work on a range of projects that span the spectrum of digital marketing.

We all wear many hats here. For example, you could be working on anything from creating a strategy for Instagram, A/B testing web page elements, building landing pages, designing social media and email campaigns, or analyzing customer churn and retention. In the span of one day you could be developing and publishing a successful customer survey using cutting edge software, design a shopping cart abandonment email follow up campaign, create a workflow in Hubspot to optimize how customer records are used, and then do a presentation of visually-exciting data dashboards that you’ve created.

We want someone who has a passion to learn about business models and strategy AND who can execute. We want someone who is a self starter. We want someone who is interested in marketing and business concepts such as customer journey mapping, conversion rate optimization, customer segments, Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD), Lean Startup, Blue Ocean, etc. You don’t have to know it all but we hope you will be interested in getting to know each topic.

We work closely with our teams in India that we’ve newly built up along with our factory that has existed for over 20 years now. The new IT team provides support to our marketing and customer service efforts here in LA and you would be remotely collaborating with them. This requires excellent organizational skills and task management.

Once a year the staff is invited to Chennai India to meet the staff in person, visit the factory and collaborate on projects.

We are a learning organization. We see our time with the company as a grad school for business, data analysis, and content creation. The only difference is that you'll be learning at least 100% more than you would in school and you are getting paid to do it.

We are looking for someone who has a management mentality and aspirations. Our main company is Hair & Compounds Inc, a wholesale supplier of hair extensions to salons. Our secondary company is Vitabae, a new supplier of supplements. And we have other software startup projects. Advancement can easily be achieved and rewarded with salary increases, taking part in interesting projects and invitations to trips to India.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

• Must currently live in Los Angeles, close distance to the Van Nuys office

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities

• Want to use both qualitative and quantitative data to understand customer behavior

• Focus (don’t try to do 100 things at once).

• Business execution (be able to take what you've learned and execute)

• Curiosity (asking questions shows that you’re trying, engaging and encountering problems or things that you don’t understand)

• Huge passion for learning and growing professionally (this goes without saying that an average employee who can be trained is better than an intelligent employee who cannot be trained)

Our Office

Our primary company is Hair & Compounds (est 1999) and our newly formed Vitabae company. Both with manufacturing facilities in India and main office in the USA.

It is a relaxed and casual atmosphere where we take advantage of the kitchen, the fully loaded espresso machine and Friday group lunches with treats from the wine cellar.

About Compensation

• Salary: Typical range begins at $60k and up, to be determined based on experience.

• Medical insurance after 60 calendar days. Kaiser Permanente HMO 100% paid for by the company.

• 401K safe-harbor matching up to 6% after 90 calendar days. A user-friendly pension plan that we help you save and build.

• 10 days Paid Time Off (PTO) after 1 year of employment. Sick leave is granted at 90 days and paid holidays are given from day one.

The position is full time, Monday - Friday 8am-5pm PST, at our Van Nuys office.
