POSITION TITLE:        Student Trainee PD (Paid Internship)

HOURS:                        24 Hours per Week

TERM:                           15 Weeks

LOCATION:                  (Hybrid Position If Applicable - Washington, DC)

Our client is looking for a forward-looking, proactive, and collaborative Student Trainee PD.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

This position is located in the Office of Communications and External Engagement (OCEE) under the Office of the Chairman and President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM). It is responsible for stewarding EXIM’s brand and reputation through effective communications and public affairs programs and strategies. The department manages earned media opportunities and relationships with reporters, coordinates external engagements with EXIM’s stakeholders, leads digital strategy for the agency, crafts owned content across EXIM’s business units, and advises EXIM’s senior leadership.

 

Serves in the capacity of a student trainee. Performs duties under the supervision of a higher-graded employee who gives instructions as to the objectives and results to be obtained and is available for guidance, as to methods and procedures to be followed, during the progress of the assignment.

 

The incumbent receives tailored instruction, guidance, training, and supervision designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for the successful performance of their duties. The incumbent will receive on-the-job training intended to enhance the individual's technical competencies. Work assignments are made commensurate with the college curriculum. Assignments include a variety of tasks related to journalism, mass communications, public relations, social media, or similar curricula related to Public Affairs or Public Relations.

Duty 1: 80%

  • Preparing written and oral correspondence to internal and external stakeholders; Assisting implementation of external affairs plans and activities designed to increase public understanding and support of EXIM’s mission and major programs among important stakeholder groups; etc.

Duty 2: 20%

  • Assists specialists and supervisors in planning and conducting public affairs and congressional affairs functions (e.g., community relations activities, ceremonies, writing and editing, and related historical materials). Aids with accessions and registration functions. Assists in coordinating social media and web activities, updating internet sites/pages, photography, and producing communication products (videos, articles, newsletters), as needed.


KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

These are some of the required skills and experiences you’ll need for success in this role:

  • Knowledge of written and oral communication methods and techniques sufficient to assist accomplished public affairs personnel in preparing general information for public release.
  • Skill in extracting and compiling information from various sources for the use of public affairs staff.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc., to proofread written material to identify obvious errors for correction.obvious errors for correction.
  • Skill in using available office automation equipment and software to prepare documents.
  • Skill in presenting written ideas through publications, position papers, correspondence, news releases, and a variety of other media.
  • Practical knowledge of methods, techniques, guidelines, regulations, precedents, and procedures of management and program analysis to perform basic tasks. Ability to gather basic information, recommend correction of simple problems, extract data from prescribed sources, and prepare reports on program and management issues/findings.
  • General knowledge of the organization’s programs, operations, rules, and processes.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at an HBCU, PBI, MI, College, or University.
