Job Description

 

 Job Summary

This position will lead the Manufacturing Department and/or one of its operating shifts in a supervisory capacity. This person will be responsible for the safety, organization, administration and performance of the department and/or shift they are assigned to. They will report to the Manufacturing Manager and work with internal and external department staff to execute the department tasks and meet established goals. This person will also be responsible to the adherence and application of all company policies and programs both general to SEIP and specific to the department, as well as the enforcement of those policies.

 
This is an exempt position, 3rd shift. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Enforce and ensure that Safety and Environmental requirements and practices are being met by Manufacturing employees.
  • Enforce and ensure that the Quality system requirements are being executed by the Manufacturing Department.
  • Develop and maintain department documents relating to the Quality system.
  • Manage and create production work schedule, which includes the assignment of personnel, scheduling of assets and coordination with Lead Operators.
  • Maintain department performance metrics that support the stated business goals.
  • Responsible for development of corrective actions to address deficiencies reported in Safety and Quality.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to Lead Operators to troubleshoot issues and work with support departments like Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Responsible for department’s development and maintenance of work area organization and housekeeping.
  • Work with service and front office departments on duties to support schedule attainment, continuous improvement and product development.
  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement activities.
  • Manage attendance performance and vacation approvals.
  • Administer and manage the training and development of employees.
  • Responsible for evaluation of operator performance in support of business metrics.
  • Conduct and coordinate disciplinary actions as necessary with Human Resources.
  • Execute purchase requisitions for consumables and department purchased items.
  • Maintain the QMS as applicable to assignment.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School diploma.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supervisory and leadership positions over manufacturing operations.
  • Must have a mechanical background.
  • Intermediate level of experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
  • Must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, and have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and a leader with a team-oriented philosophy.

 

 

Preferences

  • Associate degree or higher.
  • Experience with the equipment and processes used to manufacture Heat Shrinkable Tubing or an equivalent plastic industry experience
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
  • Formal training in Supervisor leadership and time management.

 

Special Position Requirements

  • This job operates in a professional office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, and Hearing protection.
  • Must be capable of operating a forklift, and/or other powered material handling devices.
  • Must be able to participate in a Radiation safety program.
  • Up to 5% travel required. Travel may be out of town and overnight.

 

Physical Requirements

  • While performing duties on this job, the employee is required to bend, twist and lift up to 75 pounds.
  • This job will require pushing / pulling of drums, reels, pallet jacks and carts.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders as required.
  • Some filing may be required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Salary Range: $80,000 = $85,000 Depending on experience.
